I quit after Apocalypse. Can't imagine how the game has changed. I had a few power nine including a Lotus, and lots of old weird cards like Chaos Orb and other alpha oddities. All long since sold.

a stupid fucking cash-in with a 'campaign' of a few strung together 1v1 duels with a small 1 paragraph blurb explaining the sad excuse of a plot they copy/pasted from the novel.

Also include a very limited selection of cards to """customize""" one or two slots in their mediocre theme decks you have to play to strangle any real chance of fun multiplayer so they can still get their MTG;O sheckles
>>
>>387903786
I'd really like a game that was closer to shandalar than the shovelware we keep getting.
Not much of a reason to buy new MTG games when you have real people to play with who don't mind proxies.

>>387903786
MTGO is fine as far as the actual card game goes. Anything less than the complete game of magic featuring all the rules and all your options is a pointless waste of time. The real problem is all the pushed chase rares making deck building shit and boring, that draft environments are over-designed into blandness, and the fact that no-one will ever care about the Gatewatch no matter what they do.

I'm surprised there wasn't plenty of shitposting over the MMO trademark/press release/leak/whatever it was.
>>
>>387906516
Maybe shit like more Land Art cards or Deck sleves.
>>
>>387906224
Should've spent that money in the real game.
>>
>>387903895
Imagine duelyst except with the depth and card types of M:tg, plus trading that wasn't fucking retarded so you could leave a 1/1 alive for a turn without worrying that he might teleport it into the middle of all your dudes and buff it to a 14/88 with frenzy and assrape you into oblivion, wouldn't that be fun? Instead we've got a glorified hearthstone.

>>

Everyone I know has hated the protagonist planeswalkers since battle for zendikar. I think Wizards capitalized on this hatred, because they spent the last set of stories absolutely roasting them all before getting destroyed by Nicol "our guy" Bolas.

It's hard to say. Online magic doesn't offer me much because I live close to a card shop and have a good playgroup. I have a boatload of physical cards and enjoy deck building. I don't mind starting over. But, I do mind the money it would take to get there. Ideally, the game offers me a convenient way to get my card-fix while also not running me up against decks that are far superior to my own. I've been playing Hearthstone off and on for like 2 years. It's fucking suffering. But, I enjoy the arena when it's not total garbage. Instead of a draft, maybe there could also be an MTG version of HS arena. Where you pick from a personal pool of cards and not from a shared pool.
>>
>>387909734
Hearthstone is a shared deck?
>>
>>387909734
It sounds completely insane to me that you want to ditch the best part of drafting for hearthstone's awful system.

I have only played Planeswalker digital games and from what I know unless it specifically says the word then its not it.

The rules are quite specific and laid out quite plainly albeit that some cards can be a bit wordy its all their available to be deciphered

>>387912768
I just love the digital magics because it has all the rules encoded in and no need for Judges.

Is there any benefit of physical Magic over Digital Magic?

Currently the are apparently working on an MMORPG.

If you are rich, you can play MTGO.

>Is there any benefit of physical Magic over Digital Magic?

Hanging out with your friends. Playing with house rules like damage on the stack, mana burn, friendlier mulligans, and proxies.

Casual formats!
Two headed dragon - Like two headed giant, but you count as one player and can share mana resources.

N-headed organism - Even further melded together than dragon. Your hand is treated as one big hand, and anytime you would draw cards you chose which deck to draw from Excluding the first time you would draw. Then you draw from all of your decks. Your maximum hand size is n•7 where n is your team size. Your team shares control of creatures (so viscera seer can sacrifice creatures from ally decks), but card owners chose when attacks blocks and abilities happen.

Fast and friendly - You draw two cards during your draw step and may play an additional land each turn.

Enchanted grounds - Do a gatherer search for all enchantment cards. Randomly select one.
If it is an aura, all players have an emblem that states "When a creature you control enters the battlefield, copy the aura. You must cast that copy without paying it's mana cost. If there are any variables in the casting cost, you may pay those. This copy must target that creature."
If it's a global enchantment, each player gets an emblem with the text of that enchantment.

I'm talking about the gauge system in Buddyfight
>Start the game with two
>They are cards from the deck
>Most effects and cards cost 1+ gauge
>Gauge used up is sent to the drop zone/graveyard
>Under normal circumstances you only gain one per turn by putting a card from your hand into the gauge zone and drawing a card(One mini mulligan per turn)
>Some cards give you more
It's way better than land since you are actively having to give up a useful card every turn
>>
>>387919517
Yup, it's amazing until Buddyfight dies in like 5 years.
>>
everyone knows to never have any faith in the magic online developers. mtgo is a fucking unsalvageable abomination.

whatever wizards shits out next will still be awful.
>>
>>387919791
It's going to be a sad day but I'll be damned if it wouldn't be an amazing card game for 8 years
>>
MtG is probably the best card game ever created. I've been playing on and off since Mirage.
Wizards is just the same as Games Workshop. They are afraid of losing their physical sales if they make a too good virtual game.
>>
>>387920747
supposedly there's a magic mmo in development, and thankfully the game development is fully outside of Wizards control, so they can't fuck it up.

a MTG mmo could be fucking amazing as long as wizards lets the devs do their thing. and it probably wouldn't compete with their cardboard sales
>>

>>
>>387921223

>>
>>387921386
are you joking, man? casting spells, summoning creatures, mana usage, customizable skill sets, rich worlds to explore.

it translates to an mmo pretty well imo.
>>
>>387921743
it is separate, which is why i have at least a little bit of hope. wizards shouldn't have to be directly involved at all with this project. Cryptic studios is handling the development, and they've put out some decent games in the past.

since the games were so similar you'd basically compete against yourself, while also having to promote the game a bunch and such

they should make a digital client like hearthstone though, I bet it'd cost peanuts even if you were to make a really fancy one
