is this game any good?
yeah its pretty good
does what outlast tried to do but so much better
>>387896939
One of the better survival horrors out there and definitely the best one that came out in past 5 years.
Yes. Play it now.
it's fucking great OP, don't hesitate to pick it up.
can confirm, it's good, runs on tamagotchis too despite looking amazing
its pretty good but got bored and couldnt finish it but thats only because i get annoyed when i cant just kill whatever is trying to kill me in vidya
you can scare the alien off sometimes but he stops giving a shit and kills you anyway after a while
dont know if the game ever gives you a weapon to actually fight him
i should replay it and actually finish it now, thanks for reminding me op
>>387896939
yes, too bad the ending is behind a dlc paywall, only problem i have with it
>>387897469
what do you mean? I didn't bother with the DLC
>>387897469
did they continue the story in some of the DLC? I hear this for the first time
>>387897618
>>387897757
no he's retarded. The story DLCs take place during the events of the first movie and has nothing to do with base game.
>>387897848
So he is a enormous faggot?
Cool.
It's really tense until the game gives you the flamethrower. Then, your flamethrower ammo acts like extra lives for whenever the alien finds you. Even so, the game throws some curve balls later on to keep things interesting but getting the flamethrower gives you a lot of power. Still, this is an excellent game and very much so well worth playing. Story is good, atmosphere is great, gameplay and general pacing of the game is awesome. Easily the best horror game to come out in recent years, no contest.
>>387897398
you kill one alien midway through the game by launching it into space, but shortly after you find out that there was never only one alien and they've built a nest in the station's reactor and eventually you technically kill most aliens but rather by doing the missions and level objectives, and blowing up the entire space station instead of getting some item or gameplay mechanic to do so
>>387898067
Spoiler for a good reason. He's describing the main events of the game from the halfway point to the end. Take care in reading.
>>387898060
I forgot to mention; there's a pretty arcade mode too where you try to finish a level's objective as quickly as possible without dying and you have multiple characters to choose from with different equipment loadouts. I didn't bother with it too much myself and most levels are paid DLC but this seems like a neat feature that a lot of people would like.
>>387898060
>use flamethrower
>heh run away xeno
>suddenly a xeno tail pierces my chestturns out there were two ayylmaos out there
this game is so well optimized
>>387896939
it reallys isn't
>>387896939
no
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOrphBFlDsg
it's good
but I still hate that they made the xenomorph immortal whilst giving you weapons like shotguns and flamethrowers and even some overpowered nailgun that pierces every other thing to the wall, not to mention giving you the option to shoot fuel barrels and detonate explosives
these pricks are not supposed to be unkilleable, but there's a potential high price to pay if you fuck one up, especially at close range
>>387898392>only two
>>387899146
It's okay to say it was 2spooky4u anon. We won't laugh at you.
>>387899759
these 2 are shit at vidya
>>387899957
Civilian grade weapons are useless. Even a nailgun, if it pierces the ayyy, isn't going to kill it. The marines in Aliens had explosive armor-piercing ammunition, which is why they were able to mow them down relatively easily. You have to chew them apart in order to kill them, single shots were never enough to take out a xeno. Hicks' shotgun was only effective because he shoved it in the xeno's mouth, bypassing it's outer armor.

yes, good game with god-tier atmosphere and plenty of side stuff to keep you exploring
>>387901204
Posted the wrong pic. Why do you care?
>>387901037
\they are, but this is one of the few times they're right about something
>>387901282
>plenty of side stuff to keep you exploring
so you haven't played the game
>>387901195
>all this headcanon bottom of the barrel scraping
sure thing, ayylmao-expert
>>387901345
it's cringey
>>387901354
nah
>>387901672
I think he meant "have".
>>387896939
No, the alien is invincible and he literally teleports to you, also has an autistic lust for you for most of the game
pic related
No, the actual gameplay is boring tedious garbage but it sounds and looks great so Alien fans will get a kick out of it
>>387901763
that becausethe station is full of them
I realized fairly fast that enemies cheat and know your location. Instead of, you know, actually following sounds and other clues.
I lost interest fairly fast after that.
>>387901763
there was no teleporting in that so dunno what you're talking about
>>387901945
git gud
>>387896939
It's fantastic.
>>387901945
Xenos can detect pheromones
Yeah, best horror game since Silent Hill 3. Best stealth game since Splinter Cell 3.
>Aliens fags hate it
Well that's no surprise, they already declared their shit taste by liking the weaker movie
>>387902242
>Best stealth game since Splinter Cell 3.
>>387902162
Human enemies also go straight to your location even if you hide before they enter the room.
I don't know, maybe Ripley reeks of sweat or something.
>>387902249
and then there's this autist coming itt and making up an imaginary dispute where there is none
>>387902401
A human enemy or a Working Joe understands how a human thinks. If they lose sight of you for 2 seconds, then enter a room with a single perfectly logical hiding spot, they're going to know you're in there. An ayy who follows you into a room but has lost line of sight will take a quick look around, then leave because it assumes you've fled down some bolt hole like it would have done.
>>387896939
It's too scary. I haven't finished it. :(
>>387902587
>wah why can't i kill it
>this is boring why does it know where I am
The game is literally recreating the aesthetics of first movie. if you can't appreciate that then what
Great game, but I think it's about 5 - 10 hours longer than it needed to be.
>>387901945
Please download the unpredictable alien mod. It'll fix that issue entirely.
>>387903143
I will keep that in mind if I ever decide to give this game another go.
I just like how Alien Isolation incorporated that "run away from monster because this is supposed to be scary" trend that Amnesia started, but still lets you kill some enemies and spook away the Alien with the flamethrower.
>>387903018
it has the aesthetics down, but I don't think I remember the part in the movie where the alien stomped around in a circle for 5 minutes while Ripley stared at it from behind a coffee table
>>387903018
The game had a good thing going with the tools you can forge out of scrap, but including heavy weapons too was a mistake; the xeno is not unkilleable. I get why they did it; there are humans and especially robots to fight, but the main reason they probably kept the creature immortal is for the game to have its tweest, which I think is a piss-poor reason to fuck with that universe's laid out rules
>>387903317
it's a vidya, anon
>>387896939
Yes.
Play on Nightmare with the Unpredictable Alien mod.
>>387903773
a bad one
Is it better to play with headphones in?
>>387903694
Ridley Scott doesn't seem to like Cameron's ideas on how xenos reproduce, and A:I is based off on his movie's canon.
>>387896939
Probably my GOTY from 2014. The pacing is off towards the end of the game and it does lose a little luster once you understand how to gimp the xeno, but it's still great. They completely nailed the atmosphere of the "80s version of the future" from the films.
>>387896939
i don't know, see for yourself
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQeJWrTnmbc
>>387904301
Wait... do you play ANY vidya without your headphones on?
Literally what the fuck?!
>>387904301
Alien Isolation has the best sound design of any game I've ever played.
Yes, play with headphones.
>>387904893
This, op. The game is great and it genuinely captures that claustrophobic feeling of the first Alien film. But the pacing is terrible as the game really drags at the end. You face the alien so many times that it just becomes a chore - you will hear it clank down from a vent and think, "not this shit again," not from fear, but boredom.
That being said, it's worth it to play through at least the first half. Just wish the game didn't overstay its welcome and had better restraint in its pacing.
>>387905042
Well I usually just blast my TV and stereo volume really loud
>>387906439
I don't usually use headphones, but there will be times where you'll really want to hear where enemies are and don't dare to stick your head out for a peek.
