The gigantic red flags on this is their insistence of multiplayer. For a story driven western RPG that seems like a death sentence, there's never been a successful attempt at it, the genres inherently conflict.

But, they could do it more Syndicate style which would translate into more of a GTA online environment. In fact this seems likely it's a big cash earner for the company over time.

They'll placate their fanbase by hiding real money markets until the last minute and hammering that everything's available with gameplay too.

Less about handolding, though Witcher 3 for sure had more of that. You were looking at minimap all the time.
When i say about W1 i talk more about story and atmosphere. W3 is really bland and is more of a generic fantasy with good vs evil story that has just some of slavic shit sprinkled over it so it will feel unique.
Just compare the villain. In W1, main villain wanted to basically save the world from apocalypse, in W3 he's your typical Sauron-wannabe with maybe 16 cheesy one-liners in game.
Whole experience, not only gameplay, got very casualized, game lost it's edge and became more watered down compared to the first part.

CDPR isn't "for the players", they're the most corporate-like studio in Poland, the entire "for the players" shtick is a planned marketing strategy, not a genuine statement. By "the most corporate" I mean they regularly overwork their staff, force them to crunch and aren't even paying them much.

Now the Witcher 3 downgrade wasn't due to consoles, it was planned from the beginning, because you can see that the first trailer actually has different meshes with different geometry in them. They were made purposefully, never to be used in the game, just in the trailers.
