I don't understand why so many people on 4chan like the US one. Aside from a couple of songs, it's garbage. None of the US songs are better than the originals.

Both. I love them both.

I like the JP/EU soundtrack more overall but the US soundtrack has a couple of gems like Wacky Workbench Present.

music and stardust speedway are literally the only good parts about CD, the rest sucks

I personally prefer JP, but there's some US songs I really like, like Stardust Speedway's Good Future and Tidal Tempest.

Originally US had some decent songs but then others were just completely ruined like Tidal Tempest. The Present/Good future version of that on JP soundtrack was my favorite in the game.

US is more complexly composed
JP one doesn't match the stages as well

I'll give you Good Future JP, but I think both are about equal.

You know what I wish would happen? Someone makes Past versions of all the US tracks in the same style as the ones already, that would be fucking awesome, but I don't think anybody could dare challenge the perfection of Sonic CD's soundtracks.

The lack of new Past tracks is the biggest failing of the US soundtrack yeah, it hurts the whole "every stage has its own leitmotif" thing. That said the opening of Tidal Tempest JP along with the piano wins it for me.

The original soundtrack is significantly better in every way and stands out more, with a lot of eccentricity. The US soundtrack is cool and has its nice tracks, but doesn't really fit the game that well to be honest.

They're both good and I alternate the two whenever I play CD. JP OP and ED can't touch Sonic Boom, though.
