What does /v/ think of chromatic aberration?

I like it if it's not overused.

Observer is amazing.

Wish it were an immersive sim instead of a survival horror.

Depends on how it's used. It's ok in Observer because it kinda adds to the cyberpunk aesthetic. I HATED it in Bloodborne.

I like it, but thats an unpopular opinion since most people hate it.
But i kind of admit some games just overuse it too much.
It's disgusting, particularly as devs use it as dirty replacement for anti-aliasing to reduce the impact on visual fidelity from bad hardware while fucking it up for everyone else.
I dislike it in 99% of cases and it's only decent if it's part of the game's theme. Like in that forever-upcoming horror game about robots on the moon, Routine.

That's never getting released.

It's shit and it needs to stop being a thing
>>387860369
I admit I'm kind of ignoran regarding your topict. What is it and why is ot a controversial topic?

Basically a colourful depth of field blur along the edges of the screen to make games look more "cinematic" by way of emulating shitty camera lenses . Bloodborne used it prominently and everybody shitposted about Bloodborne so it came up a bunch
