it's good
It really feels like the closest the series has ever been to being like the original. Plus all the detail in the Baker property is staggering. It's really amazing how fleshed out and organic everything feels

It's a big let down. Feel's nothing like a resident evil game at all, just gimmick VR game.
>>387859310
I thought it was really good but I can't help wondering how much better it would have been if they didn't have to develop for the psvr

The Baker state is amazing, then it ends pretty quickly and the game goes downhill from there.
Anyone know why the game lags hard when I put the textures on high?

It's either the shadow cache setting or HDD streaming stutter.

I want a new one, but with double the content. I would also like regular zombies back too. No more plagas, moulded, w/e.
Everyone seems to hate it for some reason, I feel its ok.

>Its nothing like my shitty action zombie shooters
Hey buddy, take a good look at what the original resident evil was.

A third person survival horror game with pre rendered backgrounds and cinematic camera angles. RE7 is none of these.

RE7's biggest problems are the locations outside of the Baker house, namely the ship and salt mine, and the enemy variety. If they cleaned these up a bit it would have been a fantastic game.
For some reason, I really hate the ship. On my second playthrough I got to that part and literally stopped playing.
I'd say it's the closest the series has been to the classics since RE0 but at the same time I think it lacks in the level design and enemy variety departments relative to the other classic games. It's definitely back on the right path but it's hard to say it's closer to the original than RE2/3/CV/0. It's a good modern take on that formula, though I think they can push it a little farther.
Speaking of this game, what the fuck happened to pic related?

>it's in first person so it's VR/tuber bait
Retardation
>>387864801
>ship
I don't know how anyone can rate it below the old house, training areas and salt mines. The ship was easily the second best location in the game in terms of level design.

Resident evil 7 is at least survival horror. Not a fucking action game like the last bunch if resident evils
>>387864602
>A third person survival horror
So because you dont have your third person its shit? Nostalgiafags leave pls. What I find funny is that resident evil 4-6 and anything in between have been garbage. If capcom goes back to making its shitty dinosaur zombie shooters then its over and the franchise is done.

I'd say the Revelations games were respectable mixes of action and horror. Even RE4 was further away from horror than those games were and RE4 actually put in a modicum of effort on that front.

The ship is not that bad, the problem is that it's a bunch of corridors. The ship part should've been a laboratory IMHO, it could have some outdoor areas like a swamp and a industrial area instead of the cramped ship.

Literally the same shit but in first person.

In terms of aesthetics, RE7 is wonderful and every single room is unique, it's just sad that the house isn't the hub area.
>>387865820
I feel like the card key search is one huge instance of wasted potential. They got the player back in the mansion only to unlock like 5 minutes worth of new content. Should've discovered entire new areas that way or something, each locked door should've been no smaller than the old house's second floor and even that instance was really quick. They had the right idea but they didn't do enough with it. Shit, just imagine if we found a backyard door key or something.

Prerendered backgrounds and fixed cameras were a product of the limitations of the hardware of the era. There's absolutely no need for those anymore. But the elements that make RE RE are there, single locations, few enemies, limited weapons/ammo/health, running is often an option instead of fighting, keys that access new areas, and puzzles albeit they are too easy. 7 is the closest to the originals we've gotten moreso than 4.
I was shitting bricks while trying to unlock the saw. I thought for sure the ship would put me over 4 hours.
I beat it in three.
