In case you're still reading anon, the recent games have a generous enough learning curve in terms of what kind of horseshit they throw you into that you'll have plenty of opportunity to get the hang of it. I'd really like some very small randomization to the appearance of each species, with either no impact to gameplay or very little. Different markings, scars, coat patterns, horn length/shape, stuff like that. Maybe even something similar to shiny Pokemon. The very first one you encounter offline would always appear as "default".

I'd add a townbuilding system. Something fairly complex where you could build and upgrade buildings for better services and lay out your own village that you grow into a city. It'd be a nice sink for all of the money and extra materials you accumulate.

Then the city defense missions could actually be about defending the city you build from monsters to give you some personal stake in it.

A dream game for me would be something like a cross between Monster Hunter and Rune Factory.

I think the best way to look at it though is to have 1-3 'states' for each variable thing. Long, regular, and short tail could work for some monsters, maybe give one of them an extra digit on their hands or claws or something too. Maybe in reference to deviants (here's hoping to fuck they're replaced by something else) they can have some scars on their body in different places, kinda like how Lagiacrus's chest can be broken and looks like a huge scar, except these scars would just be textures on and placed where it wouldn't clash with broken parts.

Having extra breakable parts like a longer horn or tusk that can be carved can be a decent addition as well.

Break off Diablos's giant horns like a fucking Ceadeus for a guaranteed horn-related carve - the problem is doing enough damage to break it off. Things like this could definitely break up the pace of tail runs if it means you get a higher chance at their low-rate carves or drops.

Just make the combat system better and improve animations.
The combat system is too spastic, it's not really fluid and even in the trailer you can see how outdated it is. Even when you play it often feels like you're playing some PS1 shit.
The animations themselves are not bad but they often don't chain well together, procedural animations could be the solution but that's probably too high budget for milkers like crapcom.

Also delete the gathering quests, it's just retarded mmo-tier padding. The game should only be about hunting monster and the only purpose of gathering ressources should be for crafting stuff.

Also being able to see other people in the village instead of having a separate multiplayer village that doesn't make fucking sense within the game's world. There is too much immersion breaking shit in the game, it could be amazing if the game was more coherent.

Instead of guns being separated into Light and Heavy Bowguns, you now build a Franken-gun out of three parts, Stock, Frame, and Barrel.
What choice of these three parts determined all the statistics of the gun like weight, recoil, deviation, and what it could load among other things.

It was a neat idea, but in practice there were simply combinations that were too good to not use and the entire system was far more cumbersome than it needed to be with having to craft 3 separate pieces of gun to then do everything guns do normally, which a fair amount of people already find complicated enough.

That's IF you don't make changes to how monster carves and hit zones work. Take the Rathian for instance. Scales are present nearly all over the body, so that should definitely be easy to get. Webbing should also be easy to get as well even if you break the wings, because they're not completely destroyed, they're just torn and shit. The tail, once cut, could be a guaranteed drop even, if you want to go that route. You can also add new parts or whatever. e.g Rathian Femur/Tibia/Fibula which one would assume be the large monster bone. Focusing on the legs would destroy those, rendering them useless for crafting weapons, but would give a higher chance for the head part to drop. Alternatively you can focus on the head and leave out the neck and legs to get a medulla/brain stem and leg bones. Basically if you employ surgical precision you can control your drops better. It's an idea not that far-off from normal part-breaking, it's just the approach that's different. I'd argue that it's much harder to focus on just one weak point to leave everything else pristine than going ham on several at once.

We need more mechanics to spice things up. Cutting off a tail should wreck its sense of balance and make it stumble around for a bit. The more bloody you are, the farther your scent should spread. Every mission should have a small % chance of having some random monster invade the map and fuck shit up. This game also needs more monster designs, like a multi-headed dragon. Like a hydra or something. If you kill a head, it should slacken and be dragged by its live heads. All hydras should try swallow you whole, until you cut your way out then the other heads learn not to do that. Environments need to be more varied. How about a lot more cliffs you can chuck monsters down off? An abandoned town of rubble that monsters took over. How about a wild tribe of proto-humans that came down from the mountains and that live alongside monsters? That's heretical. That can't be allowed. Wipe them out whenever you see them.

The games have ENTIRELY different goals in mind. Zelda is an action adventure, monster hunter is an action game with RPG elements. Zelda doesn't have you hunting the same monsters over and over, nor does it have you crafting gear, nor does it have you explore the same regions over and over again. Puzzles have no place in a monster hunter game, the only puzzle you should be facing in MH is where to hit the monster, what kind of weapon to use, and where the monster ran off to.

I forgot a few other minor things
1. The Guild SHOULD ALWAYS be a bar. I've always imagined Hunters to be a bit boneheaded because of their careers. No royal knight honours, no Elder Halls. I don't give a flying fuck if they are dragon slayers, keep the setting rugged
2. The story should be nonexistent, Hunters are not errandboys, they are hunters. I hated this shit in Tri and 4U when Freedom 2/Freedom Unite's plot was basically "This Tigrex just pushed you off a mountain, are you a bad enough dude to take it down?"
3. A Hunter's Manuel that matters, with the inclusion of Monster interactions I want the Hunter's Notes to start detailing shit that matters about the creatures now. Maybe even include info like where to obtain certain parts when you've already gotten them once and have illustrations of anatomy etc that unlock as you hunt them more
