As someone who grew up loving this, while the additions system is interesting and made this stand out from every other turn based game, it did fall flat in a few places.

That ring system was a bore and only served to slow down combat. If you're going to put inputs into turn based RPGs either put them in during the attack animation, and don't extend the animation for the sake of the input like say Lost Odyssey did. Or at the very least make the inputs quick and not on a set timer.

You jest, but I ended up enchanting an extravagent ring with a Grand Soul Gem with a cast for a 5 yard ranged fireball for 1-2 damage, that costed 1/2 of a charge, with 180 charges.

It would fire as fast as I could click and I named it Machinegun. It would fucking snipe every cliff racer I saw from 30 feet.

Suprised nobody's said this yet.

Severance: Blade of Darkness is a solid action RPG from 2001 that had, among other things, full physics system, dynamic lighting, physics based combat and enemy dismemberment/gore. The combat is fucking great if you take the time to learn it, it plays quite a lot like Demon/Dark Souls. It also looks like a game made in 2005 rather than 2001, which is why barely anybody could run it at the time and it was not well known for ages.

Not much in the way of voice acting. It has that quality that things translated from japanese to english by someone who isn't fluent in both have. People use full names in awkward contexts and just generaly have weird sentence structure.

If I'm talking to you I would say "Oh you like Legend of Dragoon, that's cool", LOD would translate that as "Huh so Anon likes LoD, that's cool". The second just isn't common to native english speakers.
