My biggest problem with We Bare Bears is you can literally turn the characters into literally anything else, a human, another animal, an alien, and it'll be the exact same fucking show.

Why would you make the main characters bears if they don't really do any bear things. I like ideas like Shirokuma Cafe or, say, Zootopia because them being animals actually makes sense in the overall story. They aren't animals because it's cute, they are animals because they are animals.

I barely watched Season 1 before dropping it. Maybe it's changed. The art is still shit though.

There are a handful of episodes where the fact that they're bears that live in the forest are central to the story, but they're few and far between. On a broader sense, I totally understand and agree with what you're saying. When it comes to a cartoon that's aimed at kids and is pretty inoffensive, I don't mind as much. It's a shortcoming that I'm willing to look past, not that I watch the show that much.

I caught a few episodes of OK KO when I was bored and the animation is absolutely dog shit, but there's something about that show's aesthetic that feels really appealing to me. I look past the shit animation and the handful of terrible character designs and just enjoy 10 minutes watching a pretty inoffensive cartoon.

It didn't really sound like the anime staff had anything to do with it either, it sounds like some middle-man department didn't do their job, probably the magazine publishing company that owned the rights to it.
