I love grim dAwn, haven't played Titan quest, but I understand it's the same creators/similar gameplay. FF10 also had the right idea.

Path of exile is overwhelming and just seems like "copy X build" & play. There seems like a lack of "fuck around with builds & be slightly viable/fun"

In other games, the talent tree has much fewer options and generally keeps your options some what limited ie a spellcaster chosing between fire or ice damage.

On top of that, it's usually pretty easy to respec should want feel you screwed up or just want to try something new.

In PoE, you get a ton of options, in both the skill tree and abilities, dumped on you rather quickly. It can be pretty overwhelming going in blind. However, it is still easy enough to get through the main story blind if you have some kind of a plan. It's the post game where you learn that if you aren't running a min/maxed build, you're going to get shit on. Without an easy way to reset your skill tree, this is where you're forced to grind Regrets or just start a new character.

Ultimately useless, you just pick the most viable skills, everything else doesn't matter. Literally comes down to ''choose your subclass''. It's just they made the choice appear more complicated so people like you would have entertained by it.

Doesn't matter if you have 10 or 10000 options if cookie cutter builds is what you end up with. Its why I think talent trees are useless unfun mechanics to everyone but the people who first theorycraft them.
