Oh thank god it looks better in motion. Hopefully in handheld it'll actually look pretty decent, considering that's how I'm going to be playing it most of the time.

The only thing disappointing here is the level design. It looks like it was back to Unleashed tier "hallway with the occasional grind rail to skip a section". Compared to Genrations, especially levels like Speed Highway or Seaside Hill where there were multiple paths through almost the entire stage other than a few bottlenecks makes me worry.

Generations had branching paths for like 2 minutes worth of gameplay in the entire thing, the levels are miniature compared to Unleashed's scale.

With forces all I can hope is that this first level has more to it than just being a tech demo.

I doubt it to be honest. Sure Sonic Lost World could run at 60fps on Wii U, but compare the amount of detail in the levels for both games and you'll see that Sonic Forces is more demanding. It really had to be nerfed in order to work on Switch.

We have, for what I can imagine, seen just Tutorial/Early game" stuff so far, similar how Green Hill in Generations is super simple. Hopefully the levels will become more complex later.

But this is something I blame on SEGA's PR. They have ONLY focused on the early stuff so we haven't seen anything to be excited about. Mania taking center stage in advertisement is really making Forces an uphill battle.

But if they started to show a little more into the game maybe they could still salvage some crowd.
