Lots of death. Mainly yours, though unless you play something weak your character should have a kill count well into the hundreds by the end.

That is a black lesbian vampire who don't need no man. There is also a gender transforming ring that is unidentified when you find it and if you put it on the effects can't be reversed until you do a quest way later. That is the kind of stupid SJW shit added to EE.

The BG series oddly enough isn't one of the games where I feel that way. If anything I appreciate it more on replays than I did the first time, I think because so much of what makes it good is gameplay related. Building a party full of characters, equipping them, handling all the various encounters with them, and then just about the perfect sprinkling of dialog on top of the balls out action.

Makes me feel good every time I'm playing them and not many games can claim that, even other games I love. Sorta makes me wish I had the collector's edition for some of the extra crap just because I enjoy it, but the dumbass million CD folder for BG1 and BG2's spiral bound manual that could choke an elephant are good enough.

It works better with normal druid, you get 2 or 3 attacks instead of one
>>
>>387840626
Yeah that's the Twisted Rune- there are a number of things hinting at some sort of undead/monster group secretly wielding influence on human society- there's them, that one guy "The Hidden", and that other group of Illithid in the Athkatla sewers. IMO they were working on something there and it had to be cut in the early stages so it never connected. You won't actually be able to go through the portal unless you have a rogue stone in your inventory. They're tough as nails but you get a pretty good staff if you win.
>>
>>387840752
Korgan is probably the best pure fighter in the game (does Sarevok count?), if only because all the other martial classes can't take beyond 2 weapon proficiency stars and lose out on attacks per round in the lategame.
>>
>>387840626
If you meet a talking golden skull, make sure to do what he says only after you've gained a shitload of experience.
>>
>>387840626
The BG beholder model is really creepy.

That's one of the hardest fights in the base game, so if you're just wandering in there at like level 9-12, you're probably going to get your shit slapped. It's still easier than it should be though, since without mods, their high-level fighter has almost no equipment, and the rest are also notably under-equipped for being so experienced.
>>
>>387840626
>>387841102
Buy protection from undead scrolls and use one on every character, in BG2 protection from undead makes them not react to you at all even if you start beating on them.
>>
>>387841042
I generally choose people like 50/50 for personality and stats. BG isn't hard enough to require absolute minmaxing.
>>
>>387840727
But she has pretty good stats and I like her storyline so far

>>387840887
I think I fought those illithids (The squid guys) in the sewer but I couldnt beat them yet so I left. They seem to kill my guys in just a few hits. After a few tries im doing better in this fight by summoning a bunch of skellies to hold off the enemy while I focus the lich. im determined to beat this now that I might get a good staff for my mage.
>>
>>387841201
Yeah very true, he's my go-to guy if I need an evil meatshield but otherwise I try not to bring him because I did on my first play years ago.
>>
>>387841293
It's kinda cheesy but if you inch forward just right you can aggro them one at a time. There's also a trick where you pause the game and talk to them right before they aggro to you and you can hold them in dialog mode and murder them before they can cast any protection spells. Those are pretty dirty tricks though. Any chance you grabbed the "Daystar"? That will melt most of those evils.
>>
>>387841162
Beating liches with protection from undead scrolls is an inch off killing dragons with off-screen cloudkills. Sure, you'll easily win that way, but where's the sense of accomplishment?
>>
>>387841454
And thief traps, can't forget those. It never occurred to me to do that until I read about it here.
>>
>>387841293
If you're having problems with illithid you want to find some way to acquire psychic/psionic resistance or summon a bunch of losers and have them engage in melee. If an Illithid gets a solid attack off on someone in melee there's a chance they one-shot.
>>
>>387840887
>IMO they were working on something there and it had to be cut in the early stages so it never connected.

>Reality

Man, I remember being so hyped about that thing. Now I don't know if I should be happy that they didnt infect the core game or just mad about the quality of the new content.
>>
>>387842049
Yeah it was a pretty major letdown for me too, at least we still have restored content patches. Knowing what we know now I don't trust Beamdog to finish cool things like that in a satisfying way.
>>
>>387841201
Korgan's good personality-wise especially if you have Jan and Minsc. The banter with the three of them is pretty great, Minsc hates Jan and Jan annoys the shit out of Minsc, but Korgan loves the shit out of Jan because he enjoys his dumb stories. You get some situations where Minsc is getting pissy at Jan and Korgan's threatening bloody murder on Minsc because of it.
>>
>>387842328
I've always enjoyed Korgan/Jan banter, I never thought to bring Minsc along too. I'm doing that RIGHT NOW, thank you anon.
>>
>>387842328
Interesting. I've never used jan or korgan. I have a bias against stunty races.
>>
>>387841445
I think Daystar was the longsword right? I put that in storage because none of my guys are Proficient in longswords.

>>387841734
When I go back im just going to try putting everyone on ranged weapons and send in a skeleton army. Skeletons seem pretty overpowered.

That was a close fight. Now the only problem is everyone is dead and I cant rest to revive them in here. I dont know if I can get back in if I leave. I new I should have bought that rod of ressurection

>>387842523

>>
>>387842523
The daystar is a longsword but that's not what makes it great- it has a "once per rest" ability to cast a spell called "Sunray" which is a 7th level priest/druid spell. That spell does damage to all undead in a big radius per level of the user. So if you're level 12 or so you'll hit for 12d6 damage to EVERY undead on screen. This will one shot most chumps and bring bigger bads like liches well below half. Even if they make all their saves they still take the damage, they can't reduce it. What you gotta do it slap that into someone's quick weapon slot and then you can cast it from the bag icon on your bar at the bottom without having to actually equip it.
>>
>>387842617
>>387842523
Yeah don't leave because then you'll never get back in. You might be able to pick up all of their gear and then res them after you leave though, I haven't ever tried that. Worst case scenario just re-load save or save edit a rod into your inventory.
>>
>>387842523
It's generally worth keeping weapons like Daystar equipped in one of your quick weapon slots, even if you're never going to hit anyone with it. It has the ability to cast Sunray 1/day even if you're not directly wielding it, which creates an AoE dealing 1d6/level to undead and makes them save or just die.

Don't think you can get back into the room once you leave, so either you carry everything out with your main character and bring them back afterwards, but I doubt you have room.

>>387842565
Blades are good, people just don't like him being a pretentious poet or trying to fug Aerie.
>>
>>387842565
I think the major thing is that he tries to cuck you and steal your GF if you're romancing Aerie, and like many BG2 characters his stats aren't great. They're not THE WORST (especially compared to some BG1 characters) and you don't really NEED to have a whole party of shit-kickers, but I'm always thinking about that when I'm determining my party comp. Bard rounds out unbalanced parties but they're not truly GREAT at anything, and so lategame he can't really do anything better than anyone else. Also he makes bird noises when you click him. As far as the class itself, Blade is fantastic through midgame BG2 but lategame the AC bonus from the defensive dance really isn't worth anything because everyone will just magically one shot you anyway.
>>
>>387842774
>>387843002

I was able to revive them at a temple and they teleported to me alive. Doing hexxats starter quest gave me a bag that works like a bag of holding so luckily I could bring out all the gear. I havent actually been able to find a real bag of holding yet but im still only in chapter 3.

I feel like im doing way too many side quests early in the game without focusing on the main quest. I should really focus on saving imoen.

Didnt know about using item abilities even if I dont have the weapon equipped, that should be useful. Also holy shit that staff I got from this fight is amazing.
>>
>>387843703
>I feel like im doing way too many side quests early in the game without focusing on the main quest. I should really focus on saving imoen.
That's a good thing actually. You get rail-roaded when you go to save Imoen.
>>
>>387843703
Hexxat gets a lot of well deserved shit but giving you a bag of holding early on was a 5 star change IMO. Early game inventory management is interesting the first go around and a hassle every time thereafter. There are two chapters devoted to "finish every sidequest", one before you go save Imoen and one after. Typically the boss you just beat is for after, but good on you if you smashed it the first time around. You have no actual time obligation to go save Imoen, you could wait literally forever if you wanted to.

Nothing, though there were problems with bugs and such originally. Beamdog also made an expansion called Siege of Dragonspear that was full of SJW shit, but they have since learned their lesson.
There is literally nothing wrong with the EE.
>>
>>387845484
There's added dialogues if you recruit the Beamdog NPCs, since they have banters with the BioWare ones. Otherwise I think it's unchanged, besides some actual restorations (i.e. a reference to a character that appears in the second game used an older version of his name, which BioWare changed by the time he actually appeared, the EE changes the BG1 dialogue to use the BG2 spelling.)

The originals NPCs are exactly the same with the same dialogues. So if you play a game with them you will not notice any change. BUT if you take one of the beamcuck's npc in the group then they have some banters with other npcs including the original ones. For some people those dialogues are out of character but I can't say anything about that since I usually play Good characters so Dorn/Hexxat are killed at sight and I find Neera very annoying (and I'm this guy >>387838904 so you can imagine what I do to Neera). I used Rasaad a couple of time but he is kinda boring so I dont really remember his banters with other characters.

I would be fine with RTWP if it was entertaining or felt good to use. It is neither of these things. It feels like your controls all have insane input lag and/or your characters sometimes just refuse to listen to you. And then, because everything is happening at once, the pause function exists as a bandaid fix so you can slow the action down enough to make sense of it and issue more laggy commands.

The only good use of RTWP I've ever seen in my life is FFXII, and most people would probably not call it that, they'd call it an ATB system or something.

Agree with that and it's very annoying indeed, specially if you try to do something immediately after an action, like drinking a potion, and you have to wait those fucking 5 seconds while your character it's just stand there. Even worse if you have to move it around to avoid being hit.

Still, I prefer rtwp to turns every day since after some hours turn-based systems usually start to annoy me with filler/grind/unskippable kind combat with low level enemies. Instead, in a game like Baldur you can just end a combat in seconds with a fireball and move on.
