Honestly, I used to hold this opinion and trashed the game every chance I get. Then I got convinced into buying it since my cousin was playing it and I ended up really liking it.
Maybe it will be abandoned, but it's still a lot farther along than a lot of other early access games that were abandoned or get sloth fucking a snail updates like 7 Days to Die.
PUBG could totally be abandoned but unlike a lot of other early access games, it seems like it might actually have a chance at being finished. The little UI updates here and there and minor mechanical changes seem to show some care, for now at least. It's Unreal Engine 4 too, it's actually possible for this game to run well unlike most early access games that use meme engines like Unity or something. /v/ rides all over Subnautica's cock and I actually laughed out loud when I came back to the game after a year and nothing at all was fixed.

It's pretty unique. Even though it has so many problems, it has a game mode that people like -- a game mode that you can't get from a good game. There are other games with big maps, large servers, and last man standing free for all, but they're all somehow even shittier than PUBG.

It wouldn't surprise me if it died in a year, most games do. Just look at the other steamer bait before it like DayZ and Rocket League. They're all "dead" by shitposter standards but they still have enough people playing them to find a match and that's all that really matters to people playing the game.

The game is wonky and still has some glaring bugs and fixes that desperately need to be made. This comes with it being in alpha.

There's different playstyles for this game that can get you to top 10, you have to force yourself to not find a playstyle you like.

Leaderboards don't mean jack shit, and ranking for fpp isn't even out. If you care a ton about top 10 and you find looting medkits and healing fun, you can climb by just hiding far from the zone and heal, but that means you'll have a shittier kdr, which most people look at when they look at your stats anyways. You can also hunt (my preferred playstyle) when you hear gunfire, which can get you to top 10 but make you work with it (and average a high amount of kills). You could also just play standard and move up when circle moves, not take any engagements until necessary and prone in last 2 circles.

There's so many playstyles that I can't imagine how anyone can't find one they prefer. Of course, tpp limits that, since house camping is more rampant and peek/ghosting makes hunting harder. But that's why there's fpp.

I have an i5 thats one gen older than yours and a 1060, with a fresh W10 LTSB install the game only runs above 60fps when I drop nearly all the settings to their lowest value. The game is unoptimized and memory hungry no matter how you try to spin it.
