ITT games that aged like milk

Wrong.
Gameplay and level design is still top-tier since nobody even tries to surpass it.

CT > SC1 = PT > DA (6th gen) > DA (7th gen) > conviction = shitlist
>>
>>387816530
The gameplay is clunky as shit and the level design is not that good

The First kingdom hearts hasn't aged well
>>
>>387816713
>clunky

Empty buzzword used by brainlets who can't express themselves.
The controls work properly and precise, there's nothing clunky about how Sam moves and controls.
And the level design is pretty good, leaving you multiple options for approaches.
>>
>>387816530
Shitlist was better than both conviction and double agent (7th gen)

I am so bad at this game but I'm sure it'd be fun if I was into the stealth genre.
>>
Fallout 1&2. 3 has held up so much better mostly because it's actually 3d and not isometric.
>>
The Georgian levels are atmospheric as fuck.

REMINDER: GAMES DO NOT AGE. YOU AGE. IT WAS YOU WHO CHANGED.
>>
>>387816530
>Wrong.
Anon, everyone knows that when someone says "aged like milk," what they really mean is, "The graphics are ugly because I'm too underage to remember when all games looked like this."
>>

This.

TFC. Don't get me wrong, i used to play the shit out of it back in it's prime, and it was fun as fuck, but coming back to it after sinking years worth of playtime into TF2, it just feels clunky. The projectile weapons do jack, the grenades are kinda op when spammed, pyro is useless (well i guess that carried over to tf2), and the medic infection mechanic is the most annoying shit ever. It feels like gimmick filled HL:D nowadays.

Try pic related instead anon
>>
>>387816170
Isn't that Ubisoft though, they always release the concept of the game in an unpolished state and then fix it in the sequels?
>>

every bethesda game

This. All Splinter Cells are playable. Early Hitman is not.
>>
While CT's ost was great I do think it lacks that intensity feel that the first had.

>games don't age
Who started this stupid meme? Ideals, industry standarts and public expectation change and evolve as the time passes causing some games to become less relevant.
>>
>>387821348

Yeah, the issue on /v/ specifically is that it's just faggots complaining about graphics who say games aged like milk, or they're brainlet fucks who can't play video games without fast travel, waypoints and autosaves every two seconds.

>wow i died and actually lost progress and have to actually replay 10 minutes of a level
>SHITTY

Blacklist is better than Conviction and DA
>>
>>387816530

I'd put Conviction and Blacklist over DA 7th gen. Otherwise, pretty accurate.
>>
>>387822018
DA 7th gen is a bugged mess with awful UI and butchered level design, but even then it's still mechanically miles ahead of the shitshows which are conviction and shitlist.
>>
Splinter Cell was never good
>>
>>387822180

Nah. Conviction and Blacklist are shallow action movie crap, but at least they can be mindlessly fun.

DA 7th gen was just pure frustration with no fun attached.
>>
>>387822292
Seinfeld was terrible
>>
Any game with an online multiplayer
>>
>>387817620
Meh. In some ways game design objectively matures. FPS of the 5th gen compared to 7th gen for example.
>>
>>387822180
DA is barelly playable with abysmal framerate in consoles and a bad pc port
>>
>>387822424
Sounds to me like you just want mindless action games, in which case the Splinter Cell series would be the wrong pick for you.
>>
>>387816170

I ranked Chaos Theory at the top, as it is objectively the best game in the series.

You no fun faggots are the worst. I can enjoy one thing and then another thing independently of each other. I can enjoy a summer blockbuster, shallow as it may be, and then go enjoy some French arthouse cigarette smoke and cappucino movie after that.

You fucks are so frustrating to interact with sometimes.
>>
>>387822180
DA has some of the most boring missions in the series. Zero replay value.
>>
>>387822782
> I can enjoy one thing and then another thing independently of each other

Not if it's games in the same series.
It's like getting promised a french arthouse cigarette smoke but getting a summer blockbuster instead.
>>
>>387823107

I understand that, but I'd still rather play Conviction than DA 7th gen.
>>
>>387816530
Blacklist is unironically the second best Splinter Cell game though.
>>
>>387824290
Maybe if you only played Conviction and Blacklist.
>>
>>387824446
or maybe if you have good taste
>>
>>387820493
Agree on this. You can start the Splinter Cell franchise today with the exact same game, only with better graphics and it would be exactly as good as back then (and that's not nostalgia talking, I played the series the first time in 2013 at the age of 20).
But try to play Codename 47. Almost unplayable and the difficulty is mostly absurdly unfair.
>>
>>387816170
The only problem I had were the graphic glitches and the forced combat sections.
>>
>>387824572
On opposite day.
>>
>>387816734
Really? It's so stylized I think it holds extremely well. I played it like a month ago.
>>
>>387816734
That game is dogshit i don't know how my 12 year old self was able to beat it. It aged so bad i can't beat the game anymore
>>
>>387816530
isn't Splinter Cell western Metal Gear? I bet they copied a lot of shit from Metal Gear and used Tom Clancy's novel for the plot.
>>
>>387824967
They have nothing in common, but some mentally ill faggots compare them for some reason and try to foce some artificial rivalty.
>>
>>387816713
>>387816170
It's got very good controls, and the levels are incredibly memorable, the only problems are in the difficulty department. The AI is a lot more responsive to threats than in say, Chaos Theory. But it compromises in adding needless action sequences, and having a "game over on 3 alert" system that basically functions like "negative checkpoints". It's incredibly annoying and it will fuck you up.
Splinter Cell would also only punish you by making you lose the mission if you mess an important detail, or throw all penalties out the window. Never a middle ground, though I can sympathize with the developers.
>>
>>387820493

Yep. Agent 47 is pretty clunky to play.
