Let me be blunt. PC gaming is no longer viable. Crypto mining has killed it. Video card prices are being poached and scalped and hoarded. The used market is flooded with their burnt out leftovers.

Either the crypto miners die, or PC gaming does.
>>
Stop being poor and buy your graphics cards 1st hand.
>>
You are completely wrong.
PC gaming is doing better than literally ever.
>>
>>387813050
Or instead he could just buy a console. Y'know, for much cheaper.

1050 Ti is $175, up from $120. 1060 is $300, up from $200. 1070 is $550. 1080 is $750. 1080 Ti is $850-$1000.

RX 580 is supposed to be $180. Instead it's like $400.

There's no room for compromise anymore. Blood must be paid.
>>
You're very shallow-minded in terms of possibilities.

BLOOD. MUST. BE. PAID.

That's a cute alligator
>>
>>387812981
The higher end cards are always going to cost a bit more. But you're right, cryptomining has made it difficult to get the best value for your money cards, chiefly the RX 480 and 580.

3GB or 6GB? If you bought a 3GB, you wasted your money. 6GB 1060s used to be $180.

They are making cards just for mining so your game cards will be fine.

Have you been living under a rock? PC gaming isn't in the process of dying due to a spike on hardware prices (which is irrelevant, it's the low to mid end that matters, not the very small pool of high-end users)
PC gaming has been rotting since 2003-ish, and then suffered a second fatal blow with the advent of CrowdFunding and EarlyAccess, with no way of resurecting it. It's not about hardware or any of that shit. It's about big AA and any AAA games not being viable on PC because the market is so small and the purchasing habits of current PC users are too cancerous to support consistent full priced releases. Meanwhile all the talent (you know, the individual top-class devs of the world, the thing that matters the most) left for the console market.

PC gaming has been dead for well over a decade because:
1) The core population is too small to sustain it, the rising costs of making a AA and AAA games didn't help.
2) The introduction of F2P/Microtransaction/Crowfunding models spread like a tumor within the PC market and nowadays are synonymous with PC gaming.
3) No centralized "platform holder" akin to Sony/Nintendo that has to fight against competitors to attract costumers on PC, so there's no way to fund big exclusive or to help AA/AAA 3rd party devs publish their games. So PC gamers only get exclusive indie trash as well as the "trio of cancer" (F2P/MicrotransactionMarkets/Crowdfunding), and of course console ports that only exist thanks to consoles (including Witcher2/3, Wolfenstein, Doom or DeusEx reboots)
4) Meanwhile all the talent moved on to bigger and better things (development on console games) so no good big PC exclusive game is possible anymore. At best PC gamers get semi-retired PC devs from the 90's that still think they are hot shit but end up making mediocre games (of course, through kickstarter)

Yeah, but the cryptocurrencies are throttling those cards because an issue with cryptocurrencies is they're intended to be pyramid schemes, but the specialized cards make that too obvious. They all have a definitive death date from inception based on the current technology.

>>387815050
Convincing dumb people to piss away everything on the opportunity to get rich. It's the gold rush. It quite literally is. During the gold rush you had tons of people throwing away everything to move and dig in a plot of land only to come up with nothing or to find planted nuggets and then double down on investment only to lose it all.

It's a scam.
>>
>>387815092
>she

>>387815534
>(which is irrelevant, it's the low to mid end that matters, not the very small pool of high-end users)
The 1050 Ti is a $100 card selling for $175. The 1060 6GB (the only one that matters) is supposed to be $180-$200. Instead they're $285-$350.

There is no low-mid end for PC gaming hardware anymore.
>>
>>387815659
And I mean, you'll say "Well just get last gen cards", but they're gone. They're all gone. Everything's gone. Everything's been taken. There's nothing left.

Add PC dont have real exclusives outside of generic pixelart-platforms.

MMOs are replaced by Combat-Survival-with crafting

Steam killed dedicated servers and vbulletin forums
>>
>>387815659
Still, that doesn't change the other 15 problems "PC gaming" has. Price of entry is only one of them. Even if it was cheap it wouldn't change much.
>>
>>387815540
Dunno, i've seen plenty of people (especially those that could afford multiple cards and specialized rigs) corner the market pretty damn quick and make a neat amount of bucks.
Though as of now it's straight out impossible for anyone to jump in the wagon and make money with it
>>
>>387815534
Why do I have a feeling this is some very old copy-pasta?
To think somebody would actually waste his time actually typing all of this shit nowdays is rather uncomfortable.

>>
PC never was viable, you like spend $1000 USD for play kickstarter releases and overwatch? (meanwhile consoles get Call of Duty)
>>
>>387815050
Etherium mining is viable because the currency is really new.
But what makes it viable is that it's not just another cryptocurrency - there are dozens of those. It has a bunch of built-in features like ability to program contracts with condition sets that are distributed in a p2p network.

People who understand something about that created some hype, and everyone else and their mothers decided to jump on the ship after hearing stories of BTC success.

PC gaming dies once normal consumers cannot buy/assemble desktops. Which could be pretty soon, the cattle aren't supposed to do more than check their email and browse youtube so restricting them to awkward mobile paperweights seems like the future.
>>
>>387815957
>Dunno, i've seen plenty of people (especially those that could afford multiple cards and specialized rigs) corner the market pretty damn quick and make a neat amount of bucks.
Yes, but they only made money because they were able to convince other idiots that what they had was worth something.

Comic book collectors early on made money too. But then they weren't really comic book collectors. They bought a seed cheap and then sold them out to schmucks for massive profits.

A successful con requires you to act like you believe until you have everything you want.

Let's say you want to make a deal with someone, and make sure that money is pain only when the conditions of the agreement are met.
Normally you would use an escrow service, but that also has some issues - they might be unreliable, and they charge for their services.

Alongside Eutherium a simple programming language was developed, that allows people to make simple programs, and more specifically - smart contracts. You program a contract, and it is witnessed by the distributed network of users. You use a computer network as a third-party guarantee instead of real people.

Are nvidia and amd doing intentional scarcity marketing?
The expensive part of making a gpu is the rnd and setting up the facility to build em, the cost of materials is insignificant.
So if theres huge demand from cryptominers for gpus they can just pump out more and more of them out there.
>>
>>387817958

Wut?
And i still don't understand how it's supposed to work. How does the program ensure the contract is met?

Depends on how you program it, I guess? And that depends on your creativity.
Maybe there is a simple check for both parties to provide a specific key if they both agree. Maybe something more complex, like monitoring stock market and only release money if a certain condition is met.
Sky's the limit.

Its not supposed to work. It doesn't actually address any market inefficiencies. In fact, etherium is a horrible platform to perform smart contracts on, the code is experimental, it cannot scale, and its flagship platform etherium was used for if you will, the DAO, got hacked within months of becoming public. Its a shitty pipe dream.

lol, my rig is better than any console out there, and it only cost me less than 500 dollars.
