disgaea is really a lot better on portables anyway
switch has all the dlc unlocked, other than that there's not really a difference between the two versions,

Other than d2, the only references to past games are when you're doing dlc scenarios to unlock characters from past ganes, and even then you barely need to know anything since they're usually in just a self contained gag scene.
Honestly once you just understand the basic concept of how powerful an overloard is and that demons have a kwards sence of right and wrong, your good to go.

Not really, there's some gags and there's a lot of legacy characters in the DLC(which will be there in the Switch version automatically), but you won't be lost.
