desperate? nintendo does this all the time, when enough people buy it at the "reduced price", they'll then release news on the next hardware iteration fucking over the customers.

classic jew tactic
>>
>>387801392
VR doesnt have a future in gaming. I personally think its a peice of tech that we really want to work, but its inherantly flawed. As long as there is a disconect between what you see and what your inner ear feels people will get motion sick and besides porn its not even that superior to a tele or monitor. Its expensive, hard to set up and move, and every game that comes out for it is the gimmick equivalent of the 3d movies that came out when 3d was first invented.
>>

I would expect that to be the full price. Is this really a "sale"? No wonder the hype isn't catching on.
>>
>>387801392
Not really, as tech depreciates over time, and they're likely ready to announce the next model for people to jump on, while having the older model act as an entry point to VR.

>>387802870
5 years is still too early, since nobody is really putting effort into making something worthwhile with the tech. Gaming tries to utilize it as if it is some natural fit, but I see VR working best for movies shot in full 360 or akin to like 3D tours more than engaging gameplay. Stuff like a cockpit would work great, but not so much the case when people are trying to incorporate it into everything from MMOs to shooters.

Not to mention that after 5 years of time, the price should be lowered and the tech to use it properly should be within most people's grasps.

It's also clearance, for HTC/Valve. They're rolling out new base station tech this winter (focused around being MUCH cheaper to produce, moving from discrete component sensors to ASICs, and from 2-rotors + LED array base stations to just a single rotor).

There will be new OpenVR HMDs from other hardware partners launching soon (in 2018 for sure) as well. Many/most of these will be natively wireless and of improved resolution over the first-gen HMDs (some 4k per-eye, others with hardware foveation that varies the pixel density over the display).

The only thing vive has done to improve their product so far is try to one up the rifts touch controllers that came out a year ago.
>>
>>387816641
>uses melee which is way less intuitive than disc throwing
you know NOTHING about VR. throwing is one of the most difficult things to get right in VR, because of how totally dependent the natural motion is on the weight of the thing being thrown and the timing of release, and because of how wildly it varies. it's the reason Valve immediately went after the Budget Cuts devs (for recruitment/investment), because they mastered the throwing knife mechanic. it's the reason H3VR took over a year to actually get its titular Horseshoes (and the reason they still suck).

>tech demo / 'just'

yeah because echo arena sure isn't 'just' another DOA VR multiplayer game.

Ok and the throwing is echo arena is fine. Oculus Rift CV1 is literally just the DK2 with a higher profit margin, to make back Facebooks investment in the name brand. Touch is literally just a half-assed chasing of the Vive motion controllers, to avoid being left so completely behind that they wouldn't be spoiling *anyones* first impressions.

you just keep reinforcing the impression that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, and are just a troll/shill who's never played VR at all. melee works just fine, in nearly every/any game. the lack of force feedback is not an issue for such gross motions. it's fine+rapid motions exactly like throwing, and throwing in particular, that demand greater force feedback than we currently can provide.

nearly any VR game with 'good throwing' is entirely faking the physics and just creating an effective illusion at the moment of 'release' (ie. triggering of the 'throw cannon'). AFAIK this even includes Budget Cuts. it's how Valve implemented ALL of the interactive physics objects in The Lab (and in that case you're still all only for effect, with no degree of accuracy/precision or repeatability).

No, Oculus mandates that all games target the LCD spec of 180-degree tracking in standing room only. A quick search showed up this thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=truikxxPP-0, haptic feedback gun controller being developed for commercial VR.

Your argument was literally "Time Crisis is better"
Which also isn't a fucking argument, if anything you've conceded your own point by trying so hard to be a fucking contrarian you dumb faggot.
>>

Not only is that solely for the "arcade" market, it looks pretty weak.

I don't know, can you really get 2 amps out of a 24-36V Lithium battery?
>>
Are VR goggles really worth that much?

>tiny low res displays
>some accelerometers to track movement
>plastic housing with mounting strap
>Vive controller
>batteries

seems like a rip off to me. the whole package shouldn't be more than $200.
>>
>>387824201
Of course it shouldn't, but it's a niche product for people who are stupid enough to run a top end rig when there's nothing worth playing.

How have you come to that conclusion? Have you even ever played VR?

>can be played without vr

most things listed here cannot be played without VR.

Don't worry about it, shill.

i accept your admission that you were just baiting :)

btw my glasses don't fit in my vive. The shills always say glasses are fine with vive but it's not always true

thinking of getting prescription inserts next time I have an eye exam. Anyone use VR lens eu?
>>
Wow, slightly less overpriced
>>
>>387825753
If you ask your doctor he'll tell ya to literally stop using VR. Your eyes are already bad enough for glasses.

dudes overweight, his respiratory system is failing, and he has ass cancer, I'd be depressed and wanting to kill myself too.
>>
Vive's lighthouse system is far superior to the rifts tracking system. This is a fact.

Good night.
>>

VR is less nearsightedness-inducing than regular screens (possibly neutral), and has no other (known) effects.

Is he seriously dying or is that him just playing up his personal issues again? I'd respect him even less if he's terminal. There are better things to be be doing with your final years than literally shitposting for a living.
