today early in the morning I posted a thread about getting a new processor
some kind anons introduced me to the ryzen processors and how good they are
They suggested a Ryzen 5 1600
I'm going to use it for videogames only
Should I get it or is a i5-7600K better for this purpose?
>>387798623
i5-7600K is better for gaming.
>>387798623
Get the 1600
>>387798720
>>387798965
this is confusing
>>387798623
get an i5. another stick of ram, and you're fine for a while.

>>387799136
why more ram? I'm fine with 8gb
>>387798623
just get a voodoo card and you'll be fine.

>Year of our lord
>Ever grasping the thought of getting a quad core
>>387799148
thanks anon, this looks useful
so almost every game uses just one core, am I right?
multi-core work is for other stuff like rendering streaming and all that shitam I right?
>>387799195
>voodoo
blast from the past
>>387799332
what's wrong? if they're good it's ok
>>387798623
are those HDDs? you're better off upgrading to SSDs first. It's the biggest jump in performance for your buck.
>>387799565
yes they are
I'm planning on getting a ssd too
>>387799424
They're obsolete, you'll have to buy a dead socket too and you'll have to delid + stutter
>>387799193
i mean anon, if you're goingto get a new motherboard and get a new cpu. you're going to have to get ddr4 ram and all new ram.
start thinking.
imo you'd be a dumbass to buy older parts/used parts. Just buy a new motherboard/cpu/drr4 ram/SSD and you're done.
get a new GPU next year, along with a new monitor
>>387799781
oh yeah I thought you were saying to use 16gb of ram
I'm changing to ddr4 of course
>>387799657
>obsolete
but why are they still selling quad processors then? they look like they're working really good
just curious

Wait a month or two, Intel is releasing 6 core i5's and 6/12 i7's this fall.
Then choose between them and Ryzen.
Unless you're a fucking poor fag or something just build yourself a server rack with a few top of the line xeons and 8 liquid cooled nvidia titans, works fine for me
>>387800148
but that's gonna be a little expensive maybe?
and I don't think if it's a good idea to buy something that just came out
>>387800309
nice post
>>387798623
Get a used 6700k and you're set for 4 years easy.
>>387801087
I'll take a look for a place where I can buy used pieces in my country
I think it's not as easy like in usa
>>387798623
>81C
How the fuck? mine doesn't go above 55C even when at 100% usage. Get a decent cooler FFS.
>>387800091
my quad core clocked at 4.6ghz does everything fine.
of course if I was building now, I might just grab an i7 at microcenter
>>387802421
I never overclocked anything
is there any danger in overclocking something when well cooled?
>>387802019
I don't know man, I'm a big man and I radiate a lot of heat, also my room is really hot because the sun hits my walls from midday until afternoon, so I get the most heating sun(the pic was taken at 6:15am or so though)
>>387802823
Why overclock when you don't need it
