I feel like it did everything right that console shooters get wrong.

The genre never should have tried to venture beyond this. Fuck generic full health regen, bloody eyesocket, two-weapon limit, story-focused FPS. Insomniac always knew it was about having fun with the guns.

I remember getting the game as a gift from one of my coworkers because she heard me talking about video games with another teenage coworker. I was working fast food and finishing up highschool. Resistance is nothing like CoD other than being an FPS. It's not based on iron sights, and the only gimmick is that it has unique weapons akin to Ratchet and Clank, although a much smaller arsenal and not quite as out there.

I will argue to the death that games like Resistance and Gears of War were actually good for being original IPs, yet they retroactively got lumped into the 'Cawwadooty' category when COD 4 came out.

The first time I played Gears on the 360 was fucking unreal graphically, it was a massive step up from the PS2 I had.
