Yeah, D1 and D2 were..radically different, level design wise.

D1 was very DOOM-esque. Linear and easy to figure out where you need to go.

D2 was absolutely labyrinthine. Every level felt truly alien, except maybe the very first. It almost felt hard to believe a person designed some of them, they truly felt like remote locations in space, untouched by man.

A lot of people hated D2 because of that but I'm the exact opposite...I think D1 is borderline unplayable

I sucked at it, but I fucking loved playing, something about the controls of the ship, and the mobility you had were awesome, and the music was pretty good also

It was good, but the Thiefbot was annoying and most of the levels were really hard to navigate without the Guide-Bot.
