They're both pretty different. I think I still prefer Melty a bit more because it feels a lot faster and has way more mobility options, but Under Night has the virtue of not being a fucking dead series. Under Night is still good though and definitely one of my favourites. That assault button is my guilty pleasure.

For sure, but considering [st] is the closest thing that FB has done in terms of a "full experience/doesn't feel like a kusoge or poverty fighter" game, and the fact that it's getting its time to shine with Cross Tag, this could be the moment Under Night has been waiting for. At the very least the exposure won't hurt and it can't really go down from here until a couple of years later when FB decides to work on their next big project and abandons Under Night.

French Bread has a pretty niche/small following, especially compared to other anime fighting games. Even if their stuff is good, you would brush it off as some doujin work you'd pick up at comiket.
Melty was already pretty niche because no one remembers Tsukihime, UNIB was a (fun) broken mess, UNEIL was a lot better but still pretty lacking, especially when looking at other big anime fighters like BB or GG, and had little exposure unless you already knew about FB, DBFC is literally the light novel/anime crossover fighting game that you wouldn't give a shit about unless you followed Dengeki's stuff or are a fan of FB.
