Link's Awakening (and by extension the Oracles games) has the best sprite in the series. I'm partial to the "classic Link" design, especially this particular official art of him, because of how down to adventure he is. I dislike OoT's design greatly; I disliked it as a child as well, so this isn't about me being a contrarian. WW Link's design isn't my thing but I don't mind WW artstyle in general. TP Link is fine if he had less of an ugly part. SS Link's design is pretty top-tier, especially in official art, though I dislike him being right-handed. BotW Link's design is all right though I dislike when people draw him too cutesy and fujobait, and again the right-handed is bothersome to me. I also wish that he were more muscular. I'm fine with Link being short. LoZ Link's sprite is 'classic,' of course, but I find that it looks a tad awkward, especially with the mouth. AoL's is better but the frontal still looks awkward. ALttP's is all right and I find the pink hair an interesting design choice, though again, I dislike when people draw him too cutesy. As mentioned, LA/OoS/OoA is in my opinion the best, though I wish he had tights or pants instead of having bare legs like in the LA art. MC's official art using the WW Link design is a travesty, but his actual sprite in the game does not follow the WW design too much and is pretty good. I think he would look better than darker hair. I also wish that PH and ST had gone with unique designs for Link. ALBW is a breath of fresh air as far as designs goes. I didn't particularly like the design that they went with but I'm glad that it's a harkening back to the more classic designs without bright blonde hair; going back to WW Link for TFH was a tragedy. I look forward to designs in future 2D games.

This is from the Oracles game and is my other favourite piece of concept art. It reflects Oracles Link as a trickster hero quite well, and I feel like this design actually would have worked better for WW, given that you can play the game as a literal trickster hero and force enemies to hurt one another instead of attacking them directly. I would be interested in seeing a "WW artstyle version" of this Link design.
