Just saying its possible is all. I wouldn't replay 2D sonics shittiest zones like marble, labyrinth, metropolis, sky chase, marble garden, carnival night, sandopolis, lava reef ever again but that doesnt mean that cant be cleared fast by getting good at them

I dont think the werehog knocked it out of the park but what I did see was a very solid basis for a combat engine and slower sonic gameplay to balance the hyper speed fast levels. I think what really carried it for me was the ridiculous combos you could unlock at higher levels, the music, and the incredible atmosphere. I felt like I was really freezing in the arctic winds over the black icy water in holoska, or running through an ancient chinese village in the mountains with stone paths and dragon shrines in chun nan, or carefully balancing to not fall off a skyscraper across a busy metropolis in empire city. The set design and sense of scale is simply perfect and its the only game to come close to sonic 3s sense of scale and epicness

Oh I agree that the setting and soundtrack were great, it would have been more bearable as a platformer with a bit of combat than the breawler tht we got, the combat is solid but bland, specially at the beginning, it would have been cooler to at least get a different moveset, and to level up is a friggin chore, and the "puzzles" that consist on breaking down every door looking for stones that open more doors so you can fight enemies with the same goddamn background music every time. Werehog levels were a mess to play, the bosses werent that bad though.

Thats why I said it had a solid basis. Not all ideas can be fully implemented especially if its a first time thing. A sequel could expand the move list, let you start with more combos, incoporate a lot of the great level design tricks that they learned and made use of in the DLC packs, and make either proper puzzle sections or remove them. Things that could easily be fixed/adjusted with another chance instead of just throwing it all away you know? I agree that all the werehog bosses were great though. They felt like real arenas and their gimmicks and cinematics were over the top in the best possible way. Really the game as a whole has top of the line cinematic presentation. You could really feel the passion that hasn't been since (besides mania, but thats not a sonic team game)
