i beat all the other souls games multiple times, but I can't get through Demon's Souls. The fps is just too fucking bad. In the tower of latria the fps goes down to like less than 10, and the sound's completely out of sync.

This is only a symptom of a broader push to make the game more arcade-y than its predecessors. They very clearly were going for that change in gameplay, and you can see it in the level design, harder enemy placement but far more bonfires, losing weapon degradation (although they already did that in II), creating stricter guidelines of what the boss fights can be, etc.

Demon's atmosphere blows Dark atmosphere out of the water, I've never experienced anything as overtly spooky as Tower of Latria in any other Souls game. BB's Upper Cathedral Ward, Mensis and Research Hall are on par with Latria easily. Shrine of Storms has a great feel with all the storm beasts flying around, the wind sound, the caves, great area, and the bosses are all really interesting.

I played DeS for the first time very recently after having played the Souls games and Bloodborne, fucking loved DeS, far more unique and weird stuff than Dark by far, I rate it maybe slightly below Bloodborne, since that's by far my favourite. Shit was tailor made for me. But Demon's is genuinely great.

Bloodborne LITERALLY only had 3 builds, very few weapons, the few more they added were shoved into a short as fuck DLC
No stamina management, could spam dodge almost all attacks
staggering was way too easy and made almost every boss fight easy as hell

Literally the ultimate shitter crutch weapon. Other weapons outclass in speed, stagger and utility by miles. Saws alone are faster and add serrated damage to every beast enemy, Cleaver's tricked form pancaked just like Ludwig's. Kirk has better stagger and has splash damage. Whirligig L2 trivializes bosses. Hunter's Axe beats it in range and has knockback for entire groups. Bloodletter has better range and speed, plus Frenzy. Let's not forget the weapon it's based on, the Holy Moonlight Sword, which fires laser beams.

Ludwig's is the singlemost boring shitter weapon imaginable and belongs back in Dark Souls. If you're actually playing through the game with it, just stop. AR is a lie.
