Not that anon but Platinum games to me always tend to feel very...slapped together. They have good basic gameplay elements but a lot of it lacks cohesion and flow from one element to the other.

Bayonetta is a good example. The "alternate" gameplay segments (bike chase, rocket ride, etc.) all feel very disjointed and removed from the game proper. They're not terribly fun and are just a slog until you can get back to the actual gameplay. They feel like they were put in the game solely because someone at Platinum wanted to make a segment like that.

The QTEs have been lambasted at length and things like having to backtrack to find fights and replay alfheim portals just to complete the level disrupts the flow and adds a lot of unfun padding. If you're going to require a fight for a rank, make it part of the level's basic flow.

MGR is the best Platinum game because it suffer the least from these elements. The QTEs are forgiving and make sense within the context of the fight they're used in. You expect them and they add to the experience. The gameplay overall boils down to just what works and is far more weighty and impactful than any of their other games.

Berserk is a lot more light than people think. It's full of humor, actually. I'd compare it to Shakespeare more than anything else; the only people who think it's "edgy" are the ones who've only read the first 10 chapters.

I'm not an unbiased source of information, though; I personally think it's the best fictional piece of media ever created.
