They wanted to justify the motion controls, I guess at the expense of everything else.
They didn't even really do a good job with the combat since usually he enemy AI breaks if you simply don't lock on, so you can just flail to kill.

Otherwise, it was a fun game. I loved standing up and wagglin' about like a idiot. I would love another proper zelda game with wagglan' physics with no fucking hand holding, but plenty of fun dungeons with fun gimmicks.

>Yes the Sandship, Lanayru Mining Facility, the Ancient Cistern and the Sky Keep are shit.
The bosses of 3/4 of this dungeons are bad but the dungeons itselves are very good and ones of the most original and great in 3D Zeldas.
Plus Koloktos is a God tier boss.

This game.
Swimming and Flying was unnecessarily uncomfortable without even any use put into the completely neglected analog stick.
Balance sections were basically impossible if the controls didn't feel like doing their job.
Ditched the more reliable pointer aiming for gyro aiming.
Selecting weapons was basically unused outside of slow as fuck enemies because it was so much more slow than the more tried and true method of tying a weapon to a button.
All the pointless sacrifices of speed, accuracy and comfort were made for this simplistic as fuck combat system where you've got 8 attacks + a stab but they all do the same thing. There's no independent thought even involved as every enemy will show you how you have to attack and they all just slowly approach you and you have to stand still to attack anyway. The gamecube controller could have been used to make a more complex and engaging combat system than this and these motion controls in general are a prime example of putting the cart before the horse.
