This game, man.

I barely thought it would live up to the hype, let alone exceed it. I've been playing for four hours straight across only two towns and about five houses, and it has been absolutely and utterly humbling. My breath is being taken away at every turn.

I just died trying desperately to fight a deathclaw with a minigun on a cold, lonely, massive town, with ominous growling startling me from far across some rocky, eroded mountains against the backdrop of a massive blue sky. Earlier I was marveling at a gas station. Raiders were shouting in the distance and tinkling piano chords played in the background.

I very much appreciate the technical and leveling aspects such as the settlement building and crafting, but most of all, this game has been an extremely emotional experience for me so far. I could barely pull myself away from my first settlement once I acquired the ability to build. No matter what I'm looking at, I have this excitement and this wonder and frustration that I am inevitably missing so much. I have never, EVER felt this lost. Wasteland just beckons, wordlessly. What a beautiful, beautiful, titanic game. I have no words.

Everyone should give it a chance. And thank you, Todd and Bethesda. Jeez Louise.

I think it catches more shit than it deserves. The glowing sea was pretty fucking cool, but in typical Bethesda fashion they did fuckall with it.

Yeah don't worry I thought the same. After 10 hours it's boring, repetitive shit

I think it was an improvement over 3. I never played NV so I can't speak to that.

My biggest problem is the Mechanist DLC fucking the world once you activate the quest, the beginning of which sits in the path of one of the mainline quests. I've ended up just uninstalling it because it's such a pain in the ass.

Skyrim has this problem with the Dawnguard DLC. I don't get why Beth does this shit. Don't have vampires spawn in town. Period. Don't replace half the encounters with robots and shit once a DLC is activated. It's stupid. There are better ways to implement this shit. At least let the player control when they activate these things without having to uninstall the DLC.

I enjoyed it, until i hit the 10 hour mark. I may go back and just try out survival for fun but I found myself quick traveling quite a bit after a while.

The load times with quick traveling and just going in and out of places were silly, like 30 seconds or so. I did enjoy the story but the game kind of forced me to forget about a lot of that although losing your son and finding him should be paramount, and the side quests and all that never really made me feel like you cared all that much till the end(ish) of the game.

Also, the combat was kind of wonky without mods, guns were vastly overpowered even on very hard and weapons and armor from legendary mobs didn't really feel legendary at all.

Solid game but not something extremely immersive after long hours of play unfortunately.

It was above average though, 7 or 7.5/10.
Far harbor rating as a stand alone was an 8, I particularly enjoyed that one. Still havent done nuka world because i just wanted to get on with the plot.

I started playing it again a few days ago and I don't hate it as much as I did initially, probably because i've got 100+ mods now, but the core gameplay is kind of enjoyable and it's a surprisingly pretty game if you get rid of the blur.
Still, the settlement building is boring autistic shit and the game tries to force you to engage with it.

Mechanist DLC kind of ruined some of the game for me as well. Not only do you get a COMPLETELY BROKEN companion that I chose not to use after completing the mechanist dlc but the robots also influence your drops since it does replace some mobs with robots and truth be told robotic junk is far better than others for energy and radiation weapons.

Makes the game too easy.

The PC version felt like a gross port. The starting menu is a telltale sign.

It's my last Bethesda game, because it's clear that they don't give a shit about anything but consoles at this point.

Now I'm not neccesarily disagreeing with your point, but can you explain this example?
