Without question. I had roommates that majored in game design and the professors talk about it at the beginning of the semester. Making a game consumes a large amount of your time even without factoring in QA meetings. If you're addicted to games, you're pretty much guaranteed to fail.

I have far bigger problems that drive me to video games than just addiction

If anything I feel like it's hard for me to get motivated to play games. I want to replay Diablo 2 since I haven't played it in ten years and I have a hankering for it, but I'm literally procrastinating like it's college work or something.

it was in high school, halo 2 and WoW in 2004 and my life was glued to home. Didn't experience social shit in high school and dropped all sports/clubs after about 2 months online while my grades went down as well because I would sleep in class then play until about 5 am before school. All of that changed my senior year then it all dropped to about 1-3 hours a day in college then I was completely cured after the first semester. WEW

Haven't been addicted since, sometimes the family would take my time and I don't even play some days. Only when a new vidya comes out I would hit maybe 5 hours max that day.

Your parents were shitty by letting you do that to yourself. Im grateful to have parents that, while at the time i hated, forced me to have social interactions. I could only spend so many summer days in my room until they got fed up, they'd send me to camps, make me socialize with kids i didn't like, and would take me with them on their adult events. It really makes the world of a difference growing up. It makes me sad that i see so many people in tgis board, and the internet in general, who never got passed that awkward spergy spaghetti dropping phase and are now perma-stuck in that situation.
