Fuck them for locking flying behind a raid. It may only take one LFR group but it's the principle of the matter. Blizzard is forcing it's players to engage in raiding to unlock non-raiding mechanics. You really underestimate the catch-up mechanics, man. I came back right before ToS LFR, logged on to a character I only leveled 90-100 in a couple days before Legion, and I'm already in a progression guild that is starting Mythic this week. The real people who got fucked were the very people you are mentioning, the people who slogged through it all early on. It has been the least alt / switching-mains friendly expansion by far.

They didn't even want people to fly in Draenor, but people like you would be shitting themselves if they didn't tack it on at some point. Heaven forbid you have to put forth even the slightest amount of effort to unlock flying account wide by clicking a search button, falling asleep, and waking up to being finished.

Flying has always been a mistake. Don't see how MMOs would've "progressed" a different way, but it has really gutted many aspects of the genre.

The novelty of legion got old pretty quickly. I think they "fixed" some of the issues but there is still a shit ton of grinding, too much content gated behind long questlines and it's still wow.

It's core gameplay has not aged well.

Now I haven't played in a few expansions until legion but it seems like classes that had 10 base skills, 10 utilities and some pvp specific skills (lets just pretend 30 skills total) now have a total of about 8 skills total, it's getting really ridiculous my warlock basically has 4 attacks and i'm almost 110 what is blizzard even doing> This rewards the casuals and lowers the skill ceiling considerably..

You're making the error of assuming WoW is about levelling anymore, it isn't. All about levelcap.

So while a complaint about that would be 100% fair, the vast vast majority of your time spent will be at levelcap, where you have skills.

I don't have a Warlock, but you can see a rotation for one spec here, bearing in mind Legion raid bosses have an order of magnitude more mechanics than any tank and spank in Vanilla. Whats a Warlock rotation in Molten Core?

Fun fact: Vanilla and TBC were far and away the worst times to play WoW, even worse than WoD. At max level there was virtually nothing to do if you weren't a raider, and if you were a raider the only thing to do was to raid or prepare for raiding.

Legion has done the best job since TBC to keep launch era content relevant (outside of raids).
Heroic ilevels have been increased
Mythic ilevels have been increased and Mythic+ exists
World Quest scaling bumped up and new catch up zones to make their specific WQ more relevant.

I think Legion is the strongest the game has been in a while but the downside of it is that it's so alt unfriendly due to the nature of Legendaries and Titanforging. You feel almost too pressured to be playing the game constantly to hit that BiS point and moreso than any prior expansion once you've hit that BiS point you really have no reason to keep playing and the idea of making an alt would seem insane.
