Why do you fucking hate Skyrim, /v/? What do the other outdated, clunky messes of predecessors do better for you?
>>
>>387685080
assuming this aint a troll thread you should realize nobody actually fucking hates it except a few outspoken autists who can't see past the memes and can't form their own opinions. I like skyrim for the pick up and play aspect it has going for it and because it looks nice out of the box. I still prefer morrowind if I want to really get into something and I'll play oblivion once and a while too cause it's simply an okay game. morrowind really does blow skyrim out of the water with world building and atmosphere though.
>>
>>387685080
I finished skyim main campaign and enjoyed it. Fight me bitchassniggas
>>
No one hates this game except for a few people here who are genuinely autistic in the bad kind of way. Some also hate a bit on it because they say it's not as good as the others but other than that it's a pretty decent, atmospheric and fun game.
>>
>>387686570
This. All the "hate" is mostly memes from people that have spent no less than 100 hours in the game.
>>
Samefagging this hard should be a bannable offense
>>
>>387685080
It's not that I hate it as I hate F3, but I certainly do not like. Tried playing it few times and quests were boring and samey, combat is nonexistent, it looks bad and doesn't add to the genre at all.
>>
>>387685080
I love it, its one of the greatest games ever. The only people that hate it on /v/ are the sperglords, and its best to ignore them.

I don't hate it, I just think its mediocre. It's still okay to screw around in.

Morrowind has a much more interesting world. Skyrim has mechanics that actually make a shred of sense, even if they are gutted and watered down. The only huge let down are the dragons.

Oblivion is the red headed stepchild who tried its best and failed at pretty much everything.

Highly modded Skyrim is the best hiking, immersion, and waifu simulator in history.

Because people expected bigger improvements. It instead streamlined a lot (some of which was necessary) in favour of being more 'casual friendly', which Oblivion was. Guilds, factions and cities weren't as fleshed out as they should have been, and quests quickly degrade in to 'go here and kill this/collect that', seemingly much more than previous TES games.

What it does well is basically what other TES games already did, sometimes improved. Everything else is just pretty shallow though. As it stands, it's just a bland open-world RPG with a good budget, it has very little competition in that regard.
>>
Skyrim was my firat RPG, it openes up the genre for me, now that I played other games in the genre, including Morrowind and Oblivion, it's faults are obvious, but I will never hate skyrim.

The TES fags here don't seem to realize that every TES games is exacly the same thing with very minor changes.

>MUH fech quest
Tes quest are allway mediocre
>muh spears and greaves
No one use them
>muh classes
TES character building has allways been shallow
>muh roleplaying
Role-playing in vidya is subjective.
>muh less spell
Most ove them where game breaking or useless
>muh acrobatics

the basegame is some of the worst things i have played in recent years

In design language they have MAJOR differences. Especially between Morrowind and the rest of the series

Im planning on getting a new PC with a GTX 1060 6gb GPU.

Morrowind has a much better setting, and more complexity/potential in the underlying RPG systems. The biggest problem I had was with to-hit rolls driven by agility etc. on top of needing to control actual distance and aim to make contact, with failed rolls feeling more like arbitrary punishment even when succeeding on the latter. Folding it all in to a damage coefficient preserves the importance of all your skills without feeling so arbitrary even if the end dps result is identical.

Skyrim at least tried to do something interesting in combat with more flexible wielding and spell mixing, but it's still deeply unsatisfying as a result of the spongy difficulty mechanics and sacrificed some things which could have been kept with a slightly more thoughtful control scheme (needing to piss about with inventory and equips to cast heal while you sword and board is fucking irritating). It was less shit than Oblivion for level scaling killing a sense of progression, but still pretty obnoxious for it. All three of them have tedious combat though, and could be improved immeasurably by trying to adapt some elements from Mount and Blade, Souls or Dragon's Dogma; the latter especially for large beasts. As it stands, there's very little reward for timing your attacks, so the stamina often devolves into a time limit on how much you can spam before the fight becomes agonizingly grindy, and things like dragons are just every other fight BUT BIGGER, which just makes them a chore.

It's only good for modding - and even that is a nightmare since the engine is so prone to crashing.

At least half of the complaints about Bethesda games can be explained by the studio having an obsession with procedural gameplay while simultaneously having zero understanding of it. Instead of the procedural systems leading to things emerging from the mechanics, they basically build slightly shitty MadLibs engines and it fucking shows. The amount of energy they pour into this side of things since their ass-backwards approach makes it so much harder to get anything remotely varied, directly undermining the whole point of procedural gameplay, then means they can't put as much detail or content into the other stuff.

I only think the game is overrated, the base game is very meh, the only good story in the game was in the books, the majority of quests are boring, melee combat is horrible, the dragons are disappointing, any immersion i had in this game was gone when i was in winterhold and a dark elf went to me and began complaining about bullying she received, it feels most like a casual elder elder scrolls, the only reason people(like me) still play this game is because of the mods, not as a rpg elder scrolls game but as a open modding plataform

>morrowind is a way nicer place and better designed than skyrim
Skyrim is basically a medal of honor. You play it for 30 hours and you have seen everything besides some sidequests that arent interesting at all. Maybe, if you are really into the game you play it a second time to try a new build, but this is nothing close to morrowind or daggerfall. Oblivion is just as bad as skyrim though, no idea why people like it.
>>
>>387688762
No clunky still means poorly implemented.
>>
>>387685080
I don't hate it though.

Just doing your job for you. Go work on TES6
>>
Skyrim is amazing for the first hour or so. Then you slowly begin to realize combat isn't going to get any better with skills, and the magic system is pants on head retarded. After your 3rd dungeon you have seen all there is to see with layout designs and realize all dungeons are the same 2 tilesets that are essentially long corridors that circle back to a "shortcut". The NPC's are somehow less lifelike than previous games. And your guy will wear the same armor after the first 15 minutes. Now I will say that mods fix some of this, and that is why they are going to start charging for them.

Don't even get me started on how broken certain professions are in this game.
>>
>>387685080
Skyrim is still clunky as fuck, but also lacks the depth of morrowind.
Less and shorter quests, fewer skills, less factions, meaningless factions and general worse to actually roleplay

It's more of a fantasy themepark now then an actual rpg.
>>
>>387696226
>Don't even get me started on how broken certain professions are in this game.

I'm kinda ok with le stealth archer being OP as fuck considering it was also pretty OP in Oblivion and then Morrowind's version of stealth archer was just being a mage or alchemist with custom made spells and potions. Elder Scrolls will always have that one easy to make build that destroys everything.
>>
>>387685080
I read this post in my head as either crying or on the verge of tears
>>
It's not such much about hate as the lost potential, pandering to the console users, hiring idiots that can't write/animate/code etc etc. It's a good game but definitely overrated. But it could have been the game that critics make it out to be if they focused on shit that mattered.

Mods obviously bring it up a bit, but we're basing scores on base game, not what fans "fix" for the lazy developers.

You guys would try skyrim with ultimate combat, tk dodge, and an animation mod. Newest version of tk dodge is muuuch more responsive too. There's a mod that adds a world/questline very similar to kingsfield/souls too. I absolutely hated skyrim before I tried modding.

stay away from the weird sexlab stuff, its a slippery slope
>>
>>387697568
Oh and get sweeping 1h and 2h attacks mod. Lets you hit multiple enemies with standard attack and feels more responsive.
>>
>>387697568
Too bad that stuff isn't on the special edition that's more stable.

Combat limitations make combat awful and the setting is boring. It's also less fun to mod and the NPCs take me right out of any enjoyment since they move around like robots.

I modded the game quite a bit but Oblivion was better in every way for me.
>>
>>387697941
The only time Ive had poor stability is with a bad load order or too many mods. Though I also use stability and bug fix mods. Special edition definitely runs a lot smoother.
>>
>>387697568
Yeah, ultimate combat 3.0 actually finally fucking fixes the game. Took long enough
