Yeah it's pretty crazy. I beat DQ8 3DS a couple days ago. Very nice.

Trying to play DQ3 SNES on my Vita, but retroarch isn't keeping any saves. Just lost about 3 hours of playtime. Again. This has happened so many fucking times and it's always with a port of 3. It's the only mainline DQ besides 10 and 11 that I haven't beat.

That's the port I got the farthest in, but I lost my save about halfway through Alefgard. I don't really care too much for extra end game content in the GBC version (the monster medal dungeon) so want to try to beat the SNES version, but I get nothing but problems whenever I try to play that port. I just always loose my save. I'll try to play on my PC next, but I really want to play it on the go.

Honestly i'd say emulated ps2 first beacsue you have to experience the game's charming aspect and visuals, that's one of the reason this game is so appreciated. 3ds is more suited for replays but the overall quality took a pretty huge dive, but you get some changes to try to balance that like 2 more characters etc but i think it doesn't compare to the original at all even with those additions. Call me a nostalgia fag but DQ8 was fucking magical and seeing , more than 10 years after, a semi upgarde / semi demake version on a shitty hardware makes me not mad but just immensely disappointed of what we could've had instead.

These are my thoughts exactly. I love DQ8. It's my second fav game, and this 3DS remake, while convenient, is such a downgrade visually that it's just a bit disappointing. I would love a proper HD remake. Hell I would've loved a vita port more than a 3DS since I actually own a Vita. I know that would never happen since no one owns a Vita and DQ is so niche right now that it would sell even worse, but damn I would buy it. I would even update my Vita past 3.60 for one.

I'm really glad it happened though. I only got into the series recently with IX, which I enjoyed and ended up getting the VII and VIII remakes. Even if I wasn't a fan of the series though, I'd still find it highly unfair that the rest of the world would have to miss out while Japan kept everything for themselves.
