In EP he remembers the old world and realises he's lost everyone he loved and cared about. To restore balance to the world, he goes back to his own universe where nothing is left, alone.

He's still a shit character though. If it wasn't for Baofu, EP would be terrible.

It is so sad that the plot and characters of the Persona series will never reach the heights 2 reached. And while I liked the sim elements introduced in 3, they got stale real quick and only pander to losers who want to feel like they are a Japanese high-school student. Playing Persona 5, all I could think was how perfect a remake of 2 with a new battle engine and graphics would be. The characters are already poorly developed amalgamations of P2 characters anyway.
