honestly after how JoD turned out I'm content with the one good Nights game and not having a dozen sequels.

I mean, unless they Sonic Mania that shit and hire outside of Sonic Team (god knows they can't make a good game that isn't Puyo-related these days) for people that know what they're doing and make it a smaller, cheaper download-only game so they don't have to bloat it.

I doubt any of NiGHTS' fan base is any good at programming or understands the game well enough to Mania it. I used to be big into the community during the surge before JoD and it's basically Sonic's fan base but they claim to be deep because the game is based on Jung psychology. Shame, but at least NiGHTS into Dreams was fun and has a legacy.

Doesn't necessarily have to be pulled from the fanbase. Point I'm trying to make is a total lack of trust in Sonic Team itself more than anything else.

But really though the "cheaper, smaller download only" thing is the real factor. I know something like NiD would never be a sixty buck full release these days, JoD just proves that with all the filler it has and that was almost a decade ago. Don't taint it, accept that it'll be a smaller release for your company and you can do it the justice it deserves if you try hard enough.

Well I'm with you on that one. Shit, NiGHTS would be perfect on Switch, pick it up for a level to try to beat your best score for a level for like ten minutes. For it to work, they would have to have someone sit down and either A. figure out the engine to the Saturn original (the remakes have gimped momentum for some fucking reason) and redo it completely ala the Retro engine or B. make a new engine with its own quirks that's equally appealing. NiGHTS is extremely dependent on having a very good engine, which is why the HD port isn't as fun, so if they got that and decent level design down they'd be golden.

We can hope but apparently demand for NiGHTS has gone way down and JSR is the hip new classic Sega franchise.

Always thought the HD port felt kinda off, yeah. Unless you're going all in on high scores though it's not really that much of a dealbreaker (outside of the one section in stick canyon for some reason). I have a Saturn hooked up within five feet of my computer but I know not everyone is about to go through that hassle just for one game from 1996 so I wouldn't go so far as to not recommend the HD port if someone wants to give it a shot.

I liked JOD more but then again thats the one I played first. Got the first one after they ported it to Xbox Live in 2012. I just played it once, beat it in an hour and...never came back to it. Wasn't as fun getting A ranks like JOD was
