now it does matter in some games but for splatoon nothing is hitscan and movement is heavily momentum based so the console can still calculate locations of things on its own fairly accurately without needing to be updated as much so having a higher tickrate wouldn't actually change how matches turn out

high tick rate is still a luxury that makes any shooter feel better. nobody enjoys dying after swimming into cover. nintendo really has no reason to not invest in improving stuff like that if they're gonna be charging for it next year.

to be completely honest I have not experienced this and if you actually did you would have needed to "take cover" 1/16 of a second before the shot hit you
