Metroid games aren't one of Nintendo's more popular games. Has nothing to do with AM2R, Other M, Mercury Steam, Team Ninja, Sakamoto, Metroid Pinball, or Fed Force. It has everything to do with the fact that this franchise has never been very popular. Yes, even when Super Metroid first came out. It only got a decent amount of exposure due to Smash.

At the end of the day I'll still get the game because it's the first real Metroid we're getting in years.

Still Zero Mission I believe sold over 800K so while the game didn't make a million, it did make a profit to guarantee future mainline games. So Samus Returns should be fine unless it sales less than 100K.

This meme has to die. Federation Force is a good game that tried to expand the Metroid universe with a new storyline shown from a different point of view. Even though the timing of its release could have been better it doesn't deserve anything near the hatred thrown at it.
