It was already "dead" two months after its release. The MP sucks, and even the biggest fans of this shit agree on that. It's a fine example of generic, modern, disposable type games that the AAA studios shit out.

Just get yourself a potato PC and start playing the thousands of DooM mods, like D4D. Way better "Doom4" experience.
Or if you want something tad more current-gen, play Serious Sam 3.

Of course the original, with a Source-port, like GZDoom.
There are literally NO MODS for nuDuum, because Bethesda & SnapMap.

check out the /vr/'s Doom general from time to time. New mods come out almost monthly, and the guide I posted might've been updated.

And like said, the SS3:BFE is a superb (IMO superior) "Doom3-like", not held back by console limitations. It runs great even on my 6yo (then-) mid-tier PC at 1080p/60fps, partly thanks to its HUGE options menus. A great game to co-op as well.

The multiplayer is boring, no doubt. But Arcade Mode alone is worth the price of getting it used. I've put probably 30 hours into just that and I'm still not done. It's the single player at its absolute finest.

returned the whole game when I was done with it once, and I played on UV right off the bat. The "arcade mode" is just lazy as fuck hack job on already shitty game.

I can't speak for PS4's online but it's still alive and well on PC. Takes ~1min to find a match which is actually faster than Overwatch. (There's no rank-based matchmaking though, the game just pairs people up randomly)

I played Nightmare on my first and second playthrough. Between it and Serious Sam, Painkiller, Shadow Warrior, and Hard Reset, it's the best of the horde shooter subgenre. I can imagine someone not realizing how good it is of they didn't get a real challenge from it. I don't expect someone like you to understand how good arcade mode is.
