It has an amazing amount of padding and time wasting pushed into every single aspect. Its not really possible to do everything the game has to offer in a single playthrough.

Its perfectly constructed for people that have absolutely nothing better to do other than slavishly play the samething for entire days at a time.

It's a really narrative heavy game but is still not a visual novel. It has a lot in common with visual novels really. If you like visual novels and want something that feels like a mid 2000 era anime, you'll probably like the game. You can even put it on "Safe" mode to basically turn it into a visual novel as you coast through battles.

It also borrows from the fantastic Shin Megami Tensei battle system. I won't go into the nitty gritty here, but one of the things I've most enjoyed about it across its multiple iterations and spin offs is that anything you can do to the enemy, the enemy can do to you. The battle system has this practical tough but fair mentality to it. Bosses aren't immune to things that normal monsters are, but at the same time neither are you. If you screw up and make your entire team weak to something, you can easily find yourself dead to a stunlock.

The dungeon crawling is pretty fun, but goddamn is the fanbase absolutely plagued by waifufags. I don't think I've seen a single P5 thread in over 3 months that didn't involve "[generic waifubait] is best/worst girl". I don't understand it, it's boring.

Not shitposting, but somehow, despite being excited for this before release, I just lost interest after the desert pyramid palace and haven't picked it back up for months. I didn't even watch any of the story shit getting Futaba or any of that. It isn't that I was spoiled on the story or what happens since that happened to me with 3 and 4 but I still loved those. Anyone else have the same issue? I'd genuinely like to know. A lot of my friends are giving me crap for not finishing it despite liking SMT/Persona shit a lot more than them in the past.

Personas combat is pretty straightforward:
You either:
1. Abuse weakness and "1 more"
2. Damage and heal

The problem is that buffs and ailments are useless since you can do tactic 1 is more effective on normal encounters and bosses remove buffs and have resistance to ailments.

What keeps me coming back though is the fucking awesome fusion system.

I still don't know why they never used press turn again. It's such an awesome mechanic.
