It was unplayable at launch and made me pirate every CA game after it.
BUT, I tried it out a few months ago and honestly, while it's still not as good as Rome 1, it's mostly fixed and a great game in it's own right. Make sure to install the Rome 1 music mod for maximum comfy.

The game is fine now. It's a good introduction to modern TW that is R2/Attila/WH and whatever else comes out. All quite a bit different from Shogun 2, controls, map game, settlements, etc.

Just don't play as Rome. They're extremely boring and OP.
