I recently played this because everyone was always talking about how god awful it is. Once again, people went overboard. The worst thing about the game is how playing all the levels and 100%ing it is a chore.

Everything else works even if the gunplay isn't very good. It's always portrayed as a 2/10 game as bad as Sonic 06 but its actually playable so by default its better. It isn't as good as Sonic Adventure 2 or Sonic Heroes, both mediocre games but that does not make it unplayable.

Shadow's character was already ruined when he returned with amnesia and apparently nobody with knowledge of the events of SA2 bothered to fill him in on some basic facts.

StH was able to recover and complete his character development by the end (putting the past behind him) and so he has been fine for the rest of the series afterward.

Redpill me on SA I never understood the praise. I played it after SA2 so I'm aware I'm probably biased but still the only redeemable thing about both games are the Sonic/Shadow levels and I don't remember them being better in SA1. If anything they were slow as fuck with a shitload of platforming. Like wtf was that airship level. That was some Crazy Gadget level bullshit and CG is the worst in SA2

Well fuck I was actually going to say it's nice that SA2 got rid of the hub but I guess some people actually enjoy it.
The story is certainly more comprehensible than "uhhhhh lol space station laser", I really like Chaos actually. Though I personally really like that mysterious, sorta creepy sci-fi aura the station gives, especially the aesthetics in the cannons core levels, sorta like the Vortex levels in Ecco the Dolphin

Also in the comics Shadow just says he really like cars, a poor excuse but I can kinda see it if Shadow is less edgy/emo, like he is in the comics
