This is probably my one and only problem with this game characters, everyone sucks mc's dick like crazy, there's little to no character developpement for others without a divine intervention of joker making them realize "shit i was so wrong thanks joker" for him to fly away somewhere else helping those poor lost sheeps like the fucking persona wielding jesus he is.

The other problem is that they aren't characters. As soon as Yusuke joins every conversation devolves into

Ann <-> Ryuji (only sometimes), Ryuji <-> Morgana, Morgana > Ann and Futaba > Yusuke are the only exceptions. Everyone feels about and reacts to Makoto the same way. Same with Futaba and Haru. Aside from Futaba, everyone reacts the same way to Yusuke and the same applies with Ryuji and Morgana.

These aren't character dynamics. These people don't have relationships. Groups don't work like this.

The problem is that there are too many of them. They had a sort of fun dynamic at the beginning. Hell, even their own stories were interesting. Yusuke with his mother was amazing, imho. Sadly, the moment their own story arch ends, they become stereotypes. The blonde, the thug, the artist etc. Only Makoto felt like someone who was not representing any stereotypes, but my problem with her was that she stole the show. She became the mc basically. I mean, she was always figuring out things, plan etc. It made me question why was Joker still the leader? What kind of special quality did he have to be put in such a role?

So what I'm trying to say is that if they would only keep the starting five, maybe six, then they could have spend more time with each other, more focus on them, more meaningful slice of life (like the bath or the hotel room scene) and so on.

Or they could have implemented more multi dates, where you see more of them interact.

Even if Haru has he best tits I have ever seen in a game, they doesn't make a character. She was introduced too late to make me really care for her, even if she was sweet.

Is your friend a teenager? I came into this series pretty late and I feel like I would've loved this stuff if I played it back when I was still in high school.

Playing it in english made me feel a loss in the illusion of agency. This falls largely on the cat's persistent presence. The MC or narrator making the suggestion that maybe I should go to sleep veils the mandatory nature of ending the night. However, being made to abide by the demands of Morgana to do things like go to sleep leave me feeling like I don't have control. The cat is driving this ship. Also, Atlus made some bad choices in picking out scenarios for players to make decisions about that lead ultimately nowhere and made me feel like my choices meant even less than in other game. Often times in 3 or 4, I felt like those throwaway decisions didn't really affect overall perception of the party. Here, your party members come off as assholes sometimes with how they outright ignore or dismiss your choices at times. They call you the all-important leader of the team, but you seem to get ordered around an awful lot compared to Makoto and Yu, who felt more empowered from a narrative standpoint.

They should have kept the team as Joker, Ann, Ryuji, Morgana and Youske, made Aketchi a rival detective with his own team consiting of Makoto and Haru . Shido should have been the "final" boss and a persona user while yabadabado should have been a secret final boss like izinami. Hell theres a lot they could have done to improve the game but they chose the easy pandering way. As it stands P5 is a mediocre game that gets by on the fact that its honestly the most stylish game since DMC4 but style is really all it has

We actually struck a deal where he'd play a favorite game of mine, Mother 3, while I played Persona 4 but I don't think he was too into it since he dropped it by chapter 7. In retrospect I imagine we just enjoy different types of JRPGs.

A friend and I talked about this. You could keep party management by having the benched character act as the navigator, with each character having different areas they excel in. This would force you to build your MC to cover weaknesses, encourage you to cycle your party, and open up opportunities to flesh out dungeons.

Atlus is too focused on how much money P4 made to see the wealth of options for innovation in front of them.

I will say that it was kind of disappointing how easy it was to figure out that Akechi was the traitor like really early on , I was kind of hoping that he was a red herring
