I played through DOOM recently and I think an 85 is way too high. The enemies are really spongy and the guns don't feel or sound like they have any oomph behind them except for the heavy machine gun. The level design and pacing were good, but it's not an exploration game or an adventure, it's a game where you walk from one combat arena to another so the combat needs to be far and away the best part of it and it isn't.

It didn't do anything better than the previous games, they didn't break things horrendously gameplay-wise but the plasmids were generally blander and what was new was done well but didn't really add anything special to the game, with some dumb story goofs that messed with the flow of the game too much to ignore.

It was a mediocre sequel that overall was rated far too highly for it's glaring flaws.
