It's kind of a miracle actually, its a combo of nostalgia and an actual good game. I'm surprised it sold worse than the shitty first one and I'm surprised Raging blast didn't get a third game akin to this one.

Budokai Tenkaichi 3 besides the huge rooster made you feel like the cartoon.
It had almost every fighter with almost every custome with almost every scenario.

And the gameplay didn't pretend to be a proper fighting game with balance and skill require to play.
It just wanted to be like the cartoon and it feel like it.

Dragon Rush almost singlehandedly ruined Budokai 3. Until you were playing at a high level (and 90% of players probably never were).

I bought Xenoverse 2 recently to try and recapture that Tenkaichi magic, but HOL E SHIT is it bad. Even the graphics and VOICE ACTING somehow manage to be bad.

Tenkaichi 3 was almost too slow to even be fun, but X2 is even slower, and it's a massive grind. I regret even getting it for $20.

I feel very much the same way it was also a fun casual fighting game too beam clashes and whatever the other type of clash we're awesome and super fun I'm sure now everyone would just complain about such features but me and my friends ate that shit up. It didn't really require skill and and I'm sure if I played it today it would be super shallow but it had a lot of shine. Great game for people who loved the show and we're shit at fighting games.

After Budokai 3, they did something different. By the second Tenkaichi, people knew what the deal was and the third was more or less more of a good thing. Coming off Tenkaichi 3, every other game felt like a step backwards.

Yes I know you can glide a bit while dashing, but the game should have more freedom in it's flight movement.

You can't play a good fast paced 2d or 3d fighter with a keyboard. Especially not Budokai Tenkaichi 3. It just doesn't work because keyboards aren't made for these kinds of fighters, imagine trying to play BT3 with a keyboard.
This is why Xenoverse is the way it is, it had to be made with PCKeks in mind.

It has the roster and the scenarios. It has nearly everything you could ask for in a Dragon Ball Z game. And it was made before DLC was so prevalent so it has everything in the base game.

My only complaint is split screen local multi. It was great back when it came out, but literally all you need to do to top it is have online multi so each player can have a full screen for themselves.
