Honestly Antiquarian isn't even that much of a burden in the party, especially if you focus on using her dodge boost and protect me ability, and keep the stab to finish low life enemies or use her heal to save someone on death's door.

The nice thing about Darkest Dungeon is that no matter how much you fuck up, you can always recover... at the expense of your sanity. Because grinding up a 6th level party for the 3rd time because your previous two wiped WILL drive you insane.

Obviously she's the worst class, but I never felt like her drawbacks were worse than the gain of money you make bringing her as long as you use her abilities well.

I always found the trinkets to be hella overpriced in the shop, and like 60% of trinkets early on are totally useless and the rest are only good in specific situations.

Believe me, when you encounter trinkets that are worth it, you will know.

First few upgrade do a massive difference for both armor and weapons

Guild is also important especially for dots like plague doctor blights. Higher level do more damage, and you want to let your enemy live as little as possible. Also helps stun a fair lot.
