From what I can tell the online community died off pretty quickly on the PC. There was a lot of bugs. I'm not sure if the game has improved since it first released but you might want to try a demo if you can.

It's pretty bad, it was great on release but was abandoned and taken over by chinese.

You should play Dark and Light, it's made by ARK developers, nearly identical in mechanics but dramatically improved and set in a fantasy locale with mythical creatures instead of dinosaurs. Plus a magic system is in place. It's bretty good.

34.99 seems like alot for something that's still unfinished. Kind of want to play it though...is there level progression/better gear i can get? How do you progress in the game? Are there griefers?

There's also a 2 hour free trial, for preview version xbox one games. That'd be my recommendation. I haven't tried it yet, but I bet you could find out quickly if the game is a clunky mess.

For Xbox wait until they patch it. Crashes too much as of now

Game is 90% grinding up stats just like all survival crafting games
actual combat is disappointing and because of that taking slaves is only good if you get off on it
