The DMC3 PC port is literally so bad that Capcom are ashamed of putting it in the current Devil May Cry sale bundle on Steam.

MGS3 on the 3DS.
10fps edition.
>>

I didnt have any problems with this port, except for the sounds of footsteps, they were heavily compressed.

-PC version has anti-aliasing and the textures are less blocky. This has the effect of making the textures in general seem blurrier and less defined. Possibly caused by the game running in a higher resolution. (See Snake's face and the Genome Soldiers' backsides)

-PS1 version has that kickass blurry/shaky filter that really adds to the atmosphere of the game. (For example; when the camera is swooping over the Hind D after the elevator, 2:23)

-Colors on the PC version are normalized. Snake's suit is more grey and less purple than on the PS1 version.

-2D text sprites like the credits in the Cavern and subtitles look worse on the PC version.

-Scanlines are nonexistent on the PC version.

-The snow has less of a motion-blur effect on the PC version.

-Binocular HUD is thinner and more defined on the PC version; possible due to the higher resolution.

-PC's framerate is higher.

-Soliton radar is rendered better on PC.

Yeah. It's worse overall.

I bet most of you never realized that Super Mario Bros. officially came out on PC in 1986. PC Master Race wins again!

I raise you to Castlevania on DOS. I mean, at least it has scrolling, but if you didn't have a sound card it sounded like this:

The PC port was originally worse than every other version pretty significantly. Talking about ports, Deus Ex for PS2 is actually a pretty decent port considering the limitations of the console. They even made a pretty unconventional control scheme that worked well considering the limitations of a controller vs a keyboard. The biggest flaw is taking out locational damage (so you can't break your legs, for example)
>>
>>387542773
that never bothered me :^)
>>
>>387540649
FF XIII was awful just on the performance front; for some reason they could never optimize it to play nice with almost any hardware setup on PC, but at least it wasn't as bad as VIII and VII's, both of which had their gorgeous, CD-grade audio converted to MIDI to fit on the discs for PC. They never fixed this in later digital released either, as far as I'm aware. You actually can replace the tracks with some file fiddling and a copy of their respective OSVs.
>>
>>387542178
They couldn't into Genesis emulation so they tried to recreate the game natively.

>>387540649
MGS1 PC port was fine. Only issue was it was based around the hardware available at the time and scaled terribly with age, so you were stuck using either software renderer years later, or some form of 3dfx emulation.

>>387542294
How bad was it on PS2? I had the obscure PC port (original release, not the Steam version) and it was flawless.

OP mentions awful, not worse.
The PC port was fine for its time.

N64 Daikatana, Starcraft and Command and Conquer were atrocious... Now that I think about it, most PC titles that were ported prior to 1998 were absolute shit.
>>
>>387541494
base game was also shit, so no harm done
>>
>>387543541
Grandia II on the PS2 had a lot of slowdown and the console couldn't load textures quickly enough so it had constant graphical glitches as well. They also pre-rendered a bunch of cutscenes for the PS2 one to get it to work consistently due to the aforementioned issues (Dreamcast did them realtime). So I mean it was playable, but definitely the worst version.

N64 C&C was alright, aside from the framerate dipping down to 10fps on the larger busier maps.

It didn't compare to the PC version, but on its own merits it held on well enough.
>>
>>387543771
N64 Starcraft is a work of art, you can go fuck yourself.
>>
>>387544329
It had some interesting multiplayer modes, but those ran like garbage. The colour palettes in general were murdered compared to PC. Music heavily compressed (along with the 3 some FMVs they maintained), and worst of all, all voice acting stripped.
>>
>>387540871
Idk why they dont just port the hd trilogy. Or at the very least the hd version of 3

That version is how i got introduced to star craft. I still kick ass at star craft 64. 1v1. While the mouse is obviously faster and more comfortable. I got really good with controller
>>
>Add a bunch of crashing issues to Majora's Mask, a game with a rather strict save system.

Bravo.
>>
>>387540649

Shadow of Mordor on 360.

It's still kinda fun tho, just killing lots of orcs. Sorta like Dynasty Warriors.

So the PC version is far, far, far superior.

The complete opposite is factually true.

Just boring and generic, just like every version.
>>
>>387542773
>>387545254
the only problems in it that I encountered were that the two or three FMVs don't play properly and the psycho mantis gimmick doesn't really work if you're playing with the keyboard.
>>
>>387540649
Should I pirate Metal Gear Solid Integral, or should I emulate the PS1 version?
>>
>>387545827
emulate twin snakes
>>
>>387545827
I've played through on both and there's not a lot of difference, but emulating the PS1 version is the closest you'll get to the creators' intent

If I play Integral on my PC, can I use a gamepad?
>>

I had to rebind my steam controller to keyboard keys in order to play it through last year

I have the PC Port of MGS 2 since it was only $10 at a Big Lots in 2005.

It ran so poorly we rarely touched it
