It is, but DA2 had a lot going for it even if it was executed poorly almost across the board. You aren't the chosen one unlike DA1 or 3, the story isn't about catastrophic bullshit unlike 1 and 3, the game being told through a narrator was cool even though they only leverage it twice in the entire fucking thing, the city was a cool location for some adventuring if they put more effort in to making locations and NPCs, etc.

DA1 is the best overall since it's like a half-assed Infinity Engine game, DA2's by far the worst for gameplay but has the best ideas even though nothing works well, and DA3 marks the moment when Dragon Age moved into epic fantasy garbage instead of Bioware's lazy attempt at grimdark. DA2 sorta fucked that up too but it wasn't quite as hard as 3.

DA1's the only one I'm fairly fond of but I still managed to play through all three which is more than I can say about Mass Effect.

Quit lying about the amount of gay characters there are in the game because there are more straight NPCs than gay ones. Krem is like the only transgender character in the entire game and again, you don't have to recruit Iron Bull if you don't want to. Or hell, if you want to recruit Iron Bull you can kill his Chargers later in the game, which kills Krem. You never even have to go through the cutscene where you meet the chargers if you don't want, and if you're really adamant, the only time you need to interact with Krem personally is when you get the quest to recruit Iron Bull.

Is Sera a secretly brilliant character?

She's like a subversion of the usual party member you get in these games. She's not some special snowflake with some tragic backstory tied into the stories of another character or faction in the game. She's like if a common bandit joined your party. She's ignorant and crass and doesn't really care or want to improve. She'll shut her eyes, stuff her fingers in her ears, and intonate her prejudices and beliefs when they're being directly challenged by whatever your group's doing. Her special thing that she brings to your group of the elite of the elite is that she isn't special. She's an expendable and easily replaceable pawn in a network of just normal people that do normal things.

And with all of this, she's the only character you can tell at any point to fuck off. Everyone else, you get to choose whether or not to recruit them at their various introductions, but for Sera, you can go to her at any point and tell her to go away because you're tired of her shit. It's like Bioware knew that they were making someone awful and planned contingencies in case the player wasn't really jiving with what they were doing.

But at the same time, all the marketing and interviews point to Sera just being a straight played cool character. Like they thought this informal brute who wants to slurp vag would be a neat addition to the game's cast. So maybe everything I said before was just a happy accident.
