Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

But I could respect it being at number one, I loved going into the arcade on a Friday evening, walking past all the old drunken scumbags on the 20p slot machines, and watching winner stays on. This is literally false, they are no practical infinite's in Vsav and the game balance is overall pretty good, Anakaris the character who is widely regarded as the worst character in the game just recently wont the biggest tournament outside japan.

Horrible list, at least 3rd strike and guilty gear are rated highly. virtua fighter 4 and samurari showdown are way too low, now respect for KoF, 2nd worst soul calibur title only one on the list (2 and 1 are way better). No melee is a joke. Street fighter 4 is shit in all its forms, 2 deserves to be higher. And I have NO IDEA why bloody roar is even on the list, I had that game in the day, it was average then, why do people even remember it?

Imo there's no such thing as the best fighting games as people's taste varies a lot, i love 3rd strike and it's my favourite fighting game but by far it's not the one with the hardest learning curve or anything. I also think that things like announcer, stages, themes, sounds, animations and characters design can impact on the game as much as gameplay, i could never get into BlazBlue or Skullgirls because i don't like playing with females nor do i like anime, and the 3D artstyle in USFIV made me quit the game even though it's technically good.
