Depends on whether or not you actually care about the gameplay. If you do, play on Hard. It's very engaging. I picked hard and was not disappointed. If you just want to cruise, though, stick with Normal.

Leave before you get spoiled. You get less exp and money on Hard. Hard is sometimes frustratingly hard, which makes enjoying the game as a whole a piece of shit. Turned it off after first dungeon because of that. You still get like 100-120h from the game on Normal.

Hard.

The game will take you longer to complete, because occasionally you'll get completely fucked up and not have a save for a long time.

It makes you actually have to debuff bosses and buff your party during boss fights.

It's only really hard at the beginning when you don't have party members/good personas.

Later on it just becomes tedious. And at the end pointless because you can make OP Personas.

I'd recommend normal. That's what I did in P3 after finding out hard mode sucked. For an RPG with a good hard mode there's #FE, good difficulty curve.

Death Confidant SP accessory shitter spotted. Having critical punches with Morgana, Joker, and Haru steamrolls the game into submission. No SP recovery accessory is going to help you against enemies without weaknesses. Having a critical knockdown is also excellent for rare treasure shadows.

Basically apply yourself you Persona 4 shitter. Physical criticals is king.

Like others have said the first couple palaces are relatively tough because you don't have as many options in battle. Once you start getting more personas, teammates, and confidant abilities the game becomes much easier.

Mid bosses and mob trash can be cheesed with crit punches. Acquire them as Persona unlocks their weaknesses and new fusion fodder if that's what you want. Wow, no SP Accessory requirement either.

Personally I like trying to take as few turns as possible by exploiting weakness and maximizing damage. I usually carry a bunch of SP items to get my shit back after a while of fighting.

I hit the majority of them with no problems, barring Nuke and Psi shenanigans, then hit those reliably after the second Palace.

Also Morgana is only good as a healbot so I don't know why you'd advocate using him normally.

Normal is no challenge at all. Hard mode has a rough beginning but the difficulty levels out. You get more out of the game since you have to plan fusions and team/item management better.

I played hard and had a good time. I also adds to the time management aspect because you might have to make multiple trips addind a nice hint of tension. Normal is extremely easy and you can pick your Persona skill inheritance unlike previous games making it boring as fuck but if just want the VN experience this is fine.
If you're familiar with SMT/Persona however I recommend hard for dungeons and Merciless for bosses for best time.
