Also game scores have lost their meaning these days. There was a time when having an 8 or 7 out of 10 meant it were a pretty good game and 9 and 10 was left for the real masterpieces or games that seemed excellent overall. Now since game journalism is a joke and companies just pay off reviewers for high scores, tons of games (that don't deserve it) are getting near 10 out 10 and people now think 8/10 means average and 7/10 means bad

Agree, I just played it because it came bundled with my PS4 Slim. Before with Uncharted you got insane ancient magic tombs and retarded but fun action sequences but now they tried the muh stealth sections and muh serious character development with no magic or mystical elements aside from the multiplayer.

They've been a shit measure forever. It's supposed to measure function, not pleasure. A 10 should be for any game where all the parts work wonderfully together and stand on their own and a 1 should be for a game that can't even be discernably operated. I'd give nier automata 8 because the combat, the player's means of interacting with just about everything, under-performs in a big way but the rest of the game is beautiful and charming and supports the game's goal of being a melancholic reflection on violence and purpose in a world where all outcomes are failure.
