I feel that's gonna be the problem with any movie based on a video game. Plots are written for the sake of the game, so adapting it straight would result in an awkward movie, while making it fit a movie would piss off the fans.

Have you watched the series anon? It's clearly formatted as a movie, it's a whole single arc with no mini arcs in between or anything that actually makes a difference between episode and episode.
Imagine you take a 2 hour movie and cut it every 25 minutes to add an opening and an ending. That's what the Castlevania animu does.
